1.8 4G37 Is there a difference between manual and automatic

Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between a 1.8 with an automatic and a 1.8 with a manual transmission? If so, can you tell me what the difference is, and if there is any way of converting an automatic motor to a manual trans? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The difference is obviously the transmission. Yes it could be done, but is it worth it is the question. Do you have a donor car?

I've been told that the engines are different and won't physically interchange. The reason I am asking is that I am selling my spare engine, trans, etc. from my parts car. I have had 2 people asking about whether the engine was for an automatic or manual and the first guy said they don't interchange. Thats why I came here to see if anyone knew for sure. I'm selling my current daily driver and my extra parts to buy a few things for my new daily driver. (93 Laser RS turbo)

There is no difference in the ENGINE if its an auto or a manual. It's still a 1.8.

Thanks. I guess it just really bugs me that the first question I have gotten from everyone that has e-mailed me is "is it for an automatic or manual?" I have never heard of a motor only bolting up to one or the other transmission. Is there anything at all different to them? I just don't want to tell someone that it will fit and it come back to bite me. Any more info anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
