is there a difference between 1G & 2G crank pulley?

not a newbie, but was wondering if there was a difference between the 1G & 2G crank pulley, the reason i am asking is because the rubber insert in my 2G pulley is cracking and starting to squeak? i have access to alot of 1G pulleys but 2G's are kinda scarce..any info would help.. thanks

Technically they are different. However they do bolt up the same, and are swapable.

Actually they are not the exact same. 1g's don't have that stupid "rubber" around the center. 2g's tend to deteriorate after time and can even split apart and seprate.

My 1G spiltted and seperated, yeah it has rubber in between the 2 metal pieces, that's why it is a crank damper pulley.

And when it split my timing belt jumped a tooth.

Found out i was wrong, it didn't skip, at least according to my mechanic. When i turned the camshafts around onse, it didn't seem to lign up. But when he lined up the crank, everything lined up ok. So I stand corrected.

There are others here though when it seperated it did jump.

a more politically correct way to put it would be they have them on them, not in them.

You COULD get that pulley, but its undampened.. and the arguement goes back and forth about those.. research it.. and come to your own conclusion I would say
