last saturday i ran 13.000  @110 on the track. 13.000 flat ... Its AWD 98gsx with pretty good end speed but 1/4mile time sucks. i had no traction but 60' was about 1.8. I still dont think this would be problem for me to get into 12's'

With 110 trap speed, you should be well into the 12's. I ran mid 12's at 108 trap speed. If you had a 1.80 60' I would work on the tune mid range. 13 flat and 110 mph with a 1.8 short time means the car got off of the line and made good power top end but the problem is somewhere between thos 2.

Your problem could also be in your shifting. Im hoping you van drive and shift well but if not, disregard my previous statement and work on you driving style.

What was your 1/8 mile mph? You should definately be in the mid to low 12's with good driving unless you have another issue with the car.

thanks guys, i just wanted to make sure. Actually it is shifting problem but i wasnt that sure. For some reason it doesnt go easy into the gear 2nd and 3rd. I have short shifter with act2600 ........ what i can do, to get it shift easily

not only at high rpms , when my car is on idle im having hard time too.

Some cheap short shifters are too imprecise and make shifting difficult. You might try the stocker again or I have heard good things about the B&M (I have not used a short shifter).

Changing your tranny fluid might help too. I like BG Syncroshift but I was thinking about trying Syncromesh next.

This was a good thread on this subject:

check your shifter cables also. my car was having the same problem. running 13.4 at 105, then i looked under the hood and the bracket that holds the shifter cables to the tranny had come loose. shifting was taking forever. havent taken it back to the track, but i'm hoping to be running faster than 13.4

I'm going to agree with blvngd86 as periodically mine will do this and the shifting will just go to hell. And in my old 96 i had a short shifter from extreme motorsports. Definately made it more difficult to shift over the stock one. But i dealt with it due to the much more comfortable shift knob height.

Give those 2 things a try.

Your shift cable could be alittle out of wack. You can adjust them at the base of the shifter. Basically you want to make sure the front to back throw is equal other wise you might not be going into gear correctly. Also make sure your clutch is adjusted properly.

Heres a link that describes the last 2 i mentioned.

this relates to the hard shifting into certain gears, my old tranny the bell housing was cracked from an idiot not putting in a bolt near the fire wall  but the tranny slipped into all gears ok after you put the clutch to the floor and waited a second. But when i got a new (used) tranny to replace the broken one it shifts fantastic except for reverse, you have to slam the nob to the left of neutral then slam it back and down into reverse, and it will then slip in and most of the time not grind. so my question is is this a cable problem and can i adjust the cables under the shifter, and how might i do this.

Nice trap speed anyway, sounds definately like a shifting problem. I know my 1/4 mile time dropped alot once i was able to shift into third after second, instead of going from second to fourth OMG .

sounds like your clutch might be on its way out the door, deff should be mid 12's with a 1.8 60' and 110trap with an AWD.

its a new act2600, i can spin all 4 wheels when i shift from 1 to second (i rarely can shift easy to the 2nd gear). what else beside checking the shifting cables and oil would cause shifting problmes. i do have bg synhro II fluid (not sure how much oil goes into the transmission, when i was changing oil last time 2quarts was max i could put into the trany.

If your cables are adjusted properly, your clutch is adjusted properly, your running Syncromesh and your a half way decent driver....Your trans should shift properly.

You only thing left is problems in the trans....if you have some miles on the trans the syncros are probably worn out. They are responsible for helping with smooth shift.

i still dont know how would you adjust cables, and what is the point of the adjusting the shift cables
