I have a 1992 car with a Mitsubishi 1.8L engine that I've replaced the TPM and MAF sensors.Car will start fine usually and idle fine but soon as give it gas will bog down sput and sometimes die.Was about to replace ECM with a used or rebuilt MD174843 from Ebay only to find out that one seems to be the most expensive one so would like to know if can interchange that ECM or maybe the ECM is not the problem. Thanks,Justin

Does it have a MD174843 in it right now? If so maybe that's the problem since the correct ECU is either a MD159561 or MD159562 depending on if it was a Federal or California car.

It just occurred to me that you never said your car was a 1G DSM 1.8L. If that's the case it's pretty important information to leave out.

This car is a 1992 Eagle Summit DL wagon.

I know its not performance or sports car, I figured someone here would have more experience with ECM's, if could interchange at all or if it is even the problem.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was an ECU issue. All the ECU's from that time have issue with the capacitors leaking corrosive electrolyte that damages the circuit board if left unchecked. But as I mentioned none of the DSM cars that came with the 1.8L NA engine used that model ECU so I have no experience with it. I might notice something if I saw a picture of your board.

Sorry took so long to get back to you.Thank you for your time

take good macro shots centered around the capacitors, its the cylinder shaped devices, I see 4 of em.
Even if it was rebuilt from a past failure, corrosion could of destroyed a trace. you gotta be eagle eyed, you can also use a multi meter to measure resistance from the ends of traces. check suspected area.
Here is my 92 Eagle 2000GTX 8Valve ECU, I had to add a jumper wire on one trace
