I'm doing a 2gb conversion on my 95 eclipse. Anyone have an idea how much it'd cost to weld the holes on the quarter panel and hatch? I had them filled in before on an old car believe the body shop just used Bondo and held fine I can't remember

I’m not sure what the shop rates are in your area but I would guess they would pay a tech an hour per quarter and probably two hours to do the hatch. Then you have to refinish both quarters and the hatch which will definitely be over $1000 by itself. I would guess you’d be about $1500-2000 into that job if you had it done professionally.

I just need them to do the welding without the paint. I'll be getting it repainted eventually and doing all the prep work with my dad who owned a body shop for 20 years so he's really good at prep work.

Oh cool, yeah then just figure 3-4 hours of labor at your local shop rate. I would probably set aside around $800 for it and hopefully you would have some left over after that.

yeah I remember I had maaco fill the spoiler holes when I repainted it when doing a 2gb conversion on a 95 when I was 18 (37 now). Didn't have an issue with them and I doubt they welded them. There's another shop in riverside ca that does two stage paintjobs for $1000 so I planned on getting the holes welded from a good shop, do the prep work, then get it resprayed. The place for the $1000 paintjob is called economy paint and collision in riverside. They seem to do good work but don't trust prep work if they're only charging $1000.

Yeah I definitely wouldn’t trust a $1000 paint job either. Good quality product alone would cost more than that for a complete car these days.
