zeitronix or cheaper??

I'm looking at the Zeitronix combo. It does wideband 02, EGT, and boost and can log all of them for you on their software. since i'm already pretty much hooked on the DSMlink, i figured this would probably be the best way to control everything. check them out at www.zeitronix.com . heres the pricing

279 for the wideband 02 logging ability
109 for the boost sensor
65 for the egt probe and 8ft wire.

total = 458.. (ouch)

So I was thinking, 109 for the boost sensor seems a little high... anywhere i could get something that would be decently accurate, and cheaper? also, can i assume that the TRE EGT probe would work?

First off, that price doesn't include the display, only the controller (which is fine if you plan on keeping a laptop in the car to monitor/log). Second, the EGT price is just the harness, you supply your own probe. It's a decent looking setup for the money. I'd skip the boost function and stick with a good old mechanical gauge.

Yeah, i don't really have a need for the LCD because i plan on taking apart a laptop and installing it in the car (go cheap ass laptops from friends in IT jobs).

I'm pretty sure the 65 dollar price tag includes the egt probe... i don't see how they couldn't include the probe for that cost.

I guess i like the idea of putting everything into a loggable format, and on the computers LCD display would be nice too.

i've looked around and it seams overall thats still cheaper than the seperate components would be.

According to that link it only registers 25.5psi of boost, So if you plan on running more than that it's kinda of useless. Also the 69 for the EGt looks like it includes a TRE look a like probe, at least according to this link: http://www.zeitronix.com/order/order.htm just an fyi.

Hmm i hadn't seen that 25.5 number before, but after reading more thoroughly I do. I'm also a little curious on why the top limit for EGT is 1200 degrees. That doesn't really make sense unless they expect you to place the EGT probe in the o2 houseing or something. I still like the fact that i can log EVERYTHING and just use the laptop monitor as my "extra gauges" i thought i heard somethinb about using a different pressure sensor that was cheaper... but i can't remember where.

Skip the boost control solinoid and log boost via DSMLink and either an AEM sensor or a GM sensor. Both are half the cost of the Zeitronix MAP solinoid. Going this route would allow you to view all DSMLink parameters and the ZT-2 on one graph in DSMLink.

Of course this is all assuming you are in fact going with DSMLink.

The combo for $399 looks like to be a good purchase.

Anybody else have opinions on this wideband? I've only heard about it a few times while constantly read about LM1s and PLXs. Is there a reason why those are more widely used than this wideband?

I've only found places that sell teh AEM for welllll over 150$... where do you find it for 50$???

i really like this wideband. ive used it on honda's and now its my only o2 sensor in my TSI.

works great. the display is not needed, but fun to have. also you can change what the display shows by hooking up different wires.

the loging software is easy to use, and very helpfull. there prices on the sensors is rather expencive. but if you already have an EGT gauge, you can use the probe from that. IE, greddy, autometer.
