Im going to be getting dsmlink as soon as I sell my safc 2, I wanted to know the kinda gains you guys felt when going from an safc to DSMlink?

Im interested in this too. If there is anyone that has gone from a good tuned afc to a good tuned link let us know the track times or dyno numbers before and after the change.

I dont think i can squeez any more power from my small 16g but who knows.

I went from tuning with a AFC to DSM link and I can say the car has notably more power but the best part is the driveability is 200% better.

before to get my denso 720cc injectors to get right I had the mas hacked, modded 1g FPR (lower base), AFC set to -35% and it was still rich. the idle sucked and gas mileage sucked..

now it idles good, makes more power because I can tune it better.

I deffinatley would reccomend this to anyone who plans to mod their car.

not gonna say much other than , if you want your car to run the way its supposed to and have it last and be reliable, THE DIFFERENCE IS NIGHT AND DAY

I feel bad for my motor runing around on the afc, the timing must have been stupid, and the knock must have been rediculous

THe afc sux

the link is awesome for what it does and how easy to use it is :thumb:

Livid --> don't I wish!!!

$570 for the program, cable and E-prom
+ cost of, socketting E-prom, Laptop, E-prom ECU

Like nazthug has said the difference is night and day. Before i switched to dsmlink i had the afc and the keydiver chip. I could not for the life of me get the tuning right on the car. No matter what i either was knocking like a mofo or i only say 14-15 degrees of timing and beleive me i checked everything to make sure it was running right. I switched to dsmlink and tuning became so much easier. I resolved all my knock problems and was able to bump up the timing to 17-18 where i wanted it so i was happy. Overall i would say if you want to have a reliable modded car then you would need dsmlink. But other people have better sucess with the afc and keydiver chip combo i just wasn't one of them.

50 trim with AFC......13.3 @112
50 trim with DSMlink.....12.1@114

Granted I only picked up 2 MHP but there is more to it than that. Features like a 2-step, NLTS, and anti-lag really help lower the et's.

You lost over a second on your 1/4 mile times? Or was that a mistake?

You're kidding, right? How many times must this be repeated before people realize EQUIPMENT DOES NOT MAKE A CAR FASTER, it is the TUNING. Out of the box you won't realize any gains. Looking at your mod list, I can tell....YOU AREN'T READY.

woa calm down there partner.

If he doesnt know this, which he should, then no right out of the box it probably wont do anything. Just like an AFC probably doesnt do anything right out of the box either (I wouldnt really know)

I havent used either of these to tell but thats my educated guess.

;)

Basically, both are useless "out of the box".

it was a "guess" but it was correct still wasnt it? :p

All I can say about going from the safc to the dsmlink is this. Everytime I tuned my car and had it running with a good a/f ratio. After about a week or so I would notice a decrease in performance and idle. I would then get my wide band back in and the a/f ratio was off, it seemed like the stock ecu was trying to compensate the changes I would make with the safc. With the dsmlink now I don't have this problem any more. Like what has been said before, it is the everyday driving you will notice most.

My best pump gas pass with the afc was a 12.7 @109.

My best pump gas pass with the DSMLink is a 12.1@115.

Best money I have spent.

I know out of the box I won't see any gains obviously, what did you assume that I thought I could plug it in and all my problems will go away. Dsmlink can tune a lot better than an afc on 2g's and I wanted to see the difference it made with other peoples cars, and who the hell are you to tell me im not ready? Im getting dsmlink before my FMIC and Injectors so I can properly tune it when I do get them. I suggest that next time you think before you lash out at other people. YOU are the type of person that is turning this website to shit because all you are doing is starting a flame. I think my question is legitimate and I have had many replys and you are the only one that lashed out so maybe you should read the question a few more times. I think its a given that I ment TUNING your car with the SAFC and then TUNING your car with the DSMlink and what types of gains did you see with DSMlink being the superior tuning program. BTW. Your reply helped a lot.
