YEt another TCU issue

Okay, I've searched, and searched, and searched. I just got a hell of a deal on a beater...I paid $300 for a 94 N/A w/ a 1.8...perfect interior, new paint, etc. WITH the exception that the p/o installed an automatic tranny (factory auto) from a 92 in it, and it shifts, just not correctly. Anyhow, my questions is...is there ANY way (aside from buying the proper TCU) to make the MD756916 properly operate a tranny made to run on an MD738998? Rewiring? I'm not sure, but the trans that was put it was a freshly remaned unit, so I know that it's not the tranny itself, and the TCU is all I could think of. I'm a manual tranny guy, and I have no clue about trans computers and the like. Thanks in advance.

It can be done. If you remove the speed sensor from the top center of the trans ( plug this hole) and replace the o/d cover and speed sensors with the 94 model (be sure your donor is a n/a f4a22). These transmissions have the same internals. The speed sensors are the only difference.
