I recently purchased my eclipse and have been doing maintenance since; as I was changing my lifters to bigger ones, i discovered that the spark plug in cylinder #1 was not only stuck, but it was also the a completely different spark plug in general.
The other 3 cylinders were NGK iridium, and the last one seems to be a 17mm socket size. I'm not sure but it seems like a Honda spark plug. I'm thinking that the threads might be cross-threaded and as i tried getting it out, the ratchet felt as if it was going to snap. I'm thinking about using an impact and getting it out, but I am worried that i might snap the spark plug.

If anybody has any ideas, please let me know. Anything helps. Thank.

Spray some WD-40 in there to cover your bases, i would just use a rachet if i were you. I've had spark plugs break in heads and you can drill them out, you just have to be careful. If it's gonna break than it's gonna break, but just work the plug back and forth while it soaks in WD-40 and from loosening it and tightening it, it should lube the threads enough to work it out.

Be very careful with this, I would almost just drill it out right away if it is that bad, you may have to get a TAP and do it again just to reset them.

Wow people suck and should not be allowed to work on cars (whoever messed up that spark plug). Hit it with Pb blaster it's better than WD-40.

just use a ratchet and go slow or get a friend and hold it and get a bar to put on the ratchet after letting the lube sit also spray lube as its turning good luck i hate stripped threads. can you heil coil or use the inserts on them?

The best way is to fill up the spark plug tube with PB Blaster so its up to the porcelain and let it sit for 24 hours, then use a 1/2inch breaker bar and work it back and forth.

like the other guy said, DO NOT USE A IMPACT! or expect to purchase a new head. Remember man, the heads are aluminum which means soft! Chances are if its that tight its too late and no matter what when you get it out you'll be out some threads which will fall into your motor if the heads still on the car sorry I didnt read it all. If the plug works and the car runs i'd leave it until it ABSOLUTELY needs taken out or you have the head off. Let us know what happens man

well i'm building up a 1g head right now, so i might just wait and swap it. but if anything, i'm thinking of using wd40 and working it out, then using a heil coil and going at it that way.
where can i find PB blaster?
Thanks for the feed back.

If it is stuck that bad do your best to work it out but I have had to heli coil more than one head in a customers car. Not something you really wanna have in an all out race motor but if you have to have it done your head should still be use able. Just be as gentle and careful as possible to minimize the damage or you might end up buying a new head.
