Well...I bought a head off of ebay and had at checkd and machined locally it was almost perfect except a little warped took off 0.0010 reason for head was oil in overflow tank..after old head was off I took a look at oil cooler/filter housing and noticed it was loose. So now its locktited on. After putting the head on with all oem gaskets I realize..its a 1G head..so will all of the gaskets aside from HG be ok to reuse as it wasn't run? HELP ###..

only gaskets i can think of that you would have had new would be the intake/exhaust gaskets, thermostat, gasket valve cover gasket, manifold to turbo. I would use them over again unless you damaged them taking the head back off. The manifold to turbo I'd copper spray just to make sure i get a good seal. but that's just me.

Are you asking, since the motor hasn't ran, can you reuse the Gaskets that you just put on the 1g head, for a 2g head????

Sorry. I was kinda tired and strung out LOL. Yes can I reuse any gaskets when I put the correct head on?

I would'nt reuse the intake gasket just because it's such a PITA to change if you end up with a leak.I've reused a multi layered steel headgasket with no problems, but once a composite type is torqued it's garbage.

I put my 91 laser together 3 years ago and soon realized they sold me the wrong rings ,with everything put together and torqued to spec ,engine not started ,I pulled it back apart fixed problem and put it back together reused all gaskets ,including felpro head gasket and it is still running fine ,I,ve had it up to 20psi with a 18g turbo .the machine shop told me I could still use the head gasket if it wasn,t started ,and the head bolt,s .oem

I really appreciate all of the feedback. Im gonna spend the money and buy the oem HG and intake mani gasket to save any headaches. Thanks again for the comments and suggestions.

I'm lost are you trying to put your 2g head back on?? Why not just stick with the 1g head get a 1g manifold and have a better flowing head??
