Hey guys/gals. Yesterday I went to start my car and, and it just wouldnt start. It would just keep turning. So this afternoon I checked my #1 Plug and it looked fine. So I just turned the ignition, and pumped the gas for a little bit and it started really really slow. I watched the rpms climb to 1k, then it started and they jumped up to 3500 and kept rising till it hit 5000 with out my foot on the gas pedal, so i turned it off. Checked the throttle cable and the plastic tube that covers the steel cable had broken. It runs fine now. I have absolutley no idea why it wouldnt start. Can someone tell me what the hell happened???? Sorry about the long post. Thanks.

Im just really curious as to why it acted like that. Just wanna learn i guess. Its not like it was that cold, i think it was about 35 around here the night before. Anybody know why it did that??

I was thinking about why it might not start, and since I had to pump the gas forever to get it started, could the fuel line or maybe one of the injectors have gotten cloged up??

I had a similar problem. Turned out to be my injectors. Swapped them and it started great with no problems.

Would the Injectors being bad give real bad gas mileage? Because its been running fine since it wouldnt start, and I had a full tank of gas and I am just under half a tank with only 95 miles showing. I usually get about 280 miles per tank, but now its looking like maybe 200. Somone plz help me.

Yes bad injectors will cause bad gas mileage. If you have an injector(s) that is stuck open it will most likely be leaking and you will be running richer than normal. Get one of those stethescopes or just put a screwdriver on each injector and listen for them clicking. If you do not hear clicking on one of them then it means it is stuck open or closed.

Well I checked the injectors like you said, and they were all clicking. I even pulled out the ecu just to check out the caps. (Curious). And the exhaust doesnt smell rich.

I was wondering if a clutch that was slipping pretty bad could cause that bad of gas mileage. Mine has been bad for a while. Im going to put it in tomorrow, I was waiting for better weather. So does anybody know if a slipping clutch could make you gas go quick? Thanks.
