Would a black hood and head light look good?

My car looks like @$$ right now because the previous owner didn't exactly know what wax was. So right now, my hood paint is fading away, the paint on the head lights is flaking off, and I fear rust will start forming on the hood if I don't do something this year.

So I was thinking about a cheap alternative to fix my problem, since I don't want to respray the entire car... Pain the hood and lights black... Kinda like the Initial D trueno .

So does anybody think that would be a ricetastic decision, or would it be an ok idea?

I think a matte black would look nice.

Personally, I think there's nothing to lose. It will look better, and you won't risk the chance of rust, so why not paint it?

why wouldnt you just get the hood painted to match. You dont have to get the whole car re painted cause one part is fading. Any good body shop can color match the paint for you. lets not be ghetto and cheap. thats for civics

Agreed, plus a black hood would look like a wannabe carbon fiber hood. Just get it repainted.

There's a cheap method of repainting that I was going to experiment with in doing this. However, it will be hard to match the blue so I thought it would be easier to match the black on the roof. So if this works out well, I'll redo the fenders and whatever else looks bad in the spring with the factory color. Trust me, I don't want to replicate a CF hood or be ghetto... but i'm also not too concerned about the paint since I plan on racing the car in rallycrosses 'n such, so i don't want to spend a fortune on a quality paint job

Match the paint and just get it repainted. It really shouldn't be expensive to have it re-done with the Mitsu color code, or just an on-site color match.

Matte black (Krylon BBQ Black, for any Honda kids in the vicinity) has its place. On high-end cars where it's done right and can look awesome... or sprayed on a Civic in the owner's back yard. Where we can all post pictures to http://www.laughatrice.com/

Thanks, but I was actually going for matching the roof since it's already gloss black...

Right now, I'm looking into ways to get factory paint to not dry quickly, so i can roll it on.
