what is a staging brake?

Its used to help preload your drive train before you launch the car. Its the same idea as holding the brake and the gas in a auto car. So your slipping the clutch but not going anywhere, when your on the staging brake.

hey one more thing bro... how is the back end of the car holding up? i.e. rear end axles etc? have u had and issues with those items? and what do u think is the reason why u went from 75 to 15 passes out the tranny?


Shit happens!! The c clip that holds the gears on the intermediate shaft broke off, I think it was a freak thing. Problem is I should be running a dog box but I cant make 6K fall out of the sky!! Im lookin to do the dogbox trans next year, we will see.

Yea man i hear ya! I'm just curious on how consistent you can be with a 5 speed. I have a car that's real close to the same setup as your car and was going to be doing alot of street racing with the car. With that said I would have money on the line and just wanted to know how the tranny shifts with a power level over 600h.p. such as yourself. I was wondering if it was possible to run the stock tranny with a fresh rebuild or is it a must have for the dog box? So whats actually breaking after the 15 passes or so?
 
Are the cams the 280/272 or are they 280/280?
 
Devin, so it is a T3 with an adapter plate to fit the fp manifold? I was planning on doing this with an hx35, but doesn't it sit everything lower, thus o2 would not fit dp, turbo will sit too low, etc? Keep reading negatives on adapter plates. How did you overcome this obstacle?
 
did you ever look into dogboxracing.com's dogbox? Brian Portilla ran it in his 35r car that went 9.0 at 161mph with no problems, he never broke the trans. Alex also ran it in his 9.3 laser:hmm:, could be just what you need

Does anyone know the answer to this and most of all, how the hell the wastegate is mounted??? Is it a big ass adapter plate with a flange coming out of the side or was the manifold modified???
 
It was a t3 5-bolt exhaust housing with a hole for the wastegate in the housing.
 
Yeah, the car has been fixed since then. Don't quote me on this, but that was back when he was running mid 9's. I know there was either a thread on talk or evolutionm about the crash...but that was a long while back.
 
I believe that crash was from last season. The car got fixed and a cage put it in also if I remember correctly. This is old news.

Lucky, it looked like a pretty hard hit. Especially from that 4 ton boat anchor :D Sport compacts dont take impacts well. Like the vid of the two ricers racing around the parking lot. That little honda caved the #### in from that little fender bender.
