Working on a 4G63 swap

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Why is everybody hating on everyone's else's setup?

Why can't we do what we feel is best for our own cars?

To the original poster: if you still want to do the swap, I suggest you do some research on this swap, and see if you still want to do it.

I have done some research and I have found it would be best to go with the 1g 6-bolt engine and the 2g transmission.

It would also be a very good idea to find a 2g GS-T donor car from the junkyard and see if you could buy it for cheap to take parts off of it like the wiring harness and the a/c and p/s lines and all of the other misc. stuff you will need.

I think that would be the most cost-effective method to do this swap.

If you own a :dsm: with a :laser: motor and want to keep that :laser: motor, that's fine.

If you have a :laser: motor in your :dsm: and want to make your car a true :dsm: this swap isn't rocket science, and it is entirely possible.

No No No No and ..uh No.

No ones 'hating' on anyones motor or setup. just use some damn common sense.

A motors a motor once its built.

Thats why this swap is stupid and a waste of time.

No point unless you were putting in a bigger displacement motor thats race built.

Which can be done for less if you continue to use a chrysler block (PT or Stratus). Rebuilt with forged internals.

Or just stroke your stock block to 2.2L

If I take all that time and money to swap in another engine, it'd better be built up, or else im wasting my time.

end of story.

Um, why do you care so much if it's my car and I want to screw it up?

Why can't you just go back to your cloud car and put your precious 2.4 motor in it, and leave other people who want to do the smart thing alone?

The 2.4 is going to have as many problems if you turbo it as a 4g63T swap.

It's also not exactly easy to swap that 2.4 in either, because it is also not designed to fit in the eclipse.

That's beside the point anyway, because the original poster did not ask for you wannabe 2.4L :laser: motor people to talk about witch motor you wish you had, he only wanted advice on the swap.

That is, if you actually read the first post.

haha...the 2.4l swap is actually pretty easy...you need to fabricate one mount, do some wiring, and mess with the cam sensor...but of course, you knew that. Tuning has been a lil rough for most people...but i assume you knew all that too...and i am sure you could tune it yourself.

I have helped a respected member of the DSM community with his swap...but i am sure I don't know what i am talking about.

I read the whole post, and have not said anything about swapping in the 4g6 into his car...to each their own.

Our chrysler's have their weak points...so what...not like the 2g 4g6's are bulletproof...Either way you look at it, you have a dsm...Its not exactly a ferrari or lamborghini...so don't let your nose point to the sky at us.

"Why can't you just go back to your cloud car and put your precious 2.4 motor in it, and leave other people who want to do the smart thing alone?

The 2.4 is going to have as many problems if you turbo it as a 4g63T swap."

I have not a cloud car, it is actually a Talon.

if turboing a 2.4l swap has as many probs as swapping in a 4g63T...then explain why, exactly, it is the smart thing to do??

But yeah...you're right...i am wrong...you are god...I am merely a servant...4g63 is Gods gift to cars...420A belongs in a TYCO RC :thumb:

DSM :dsm: :laser: :talon: :thumb: who cares... guys if you want to do the swap contact solarblueeclipse if you got about 1 week time and 1 and a half week patience this swap is guranteed to work right... 1 week of work time... 1 week of working out glitches... if you want to turbo the 420a contact razorsharkusa on aim hes done a stage 2 and didnt crack a piston till 2 years after. If you want to go all motor... goodluck the further i went in the more i messed up. I don't hate on any motors. end of me in this forum... see you all at the next couple of shootouts.

You probably do know what you are talking about, when it comes to that swap, I never said otherwise.

I read the whole post, and have not said anything about swapping in the 4g6 into his car...to each their own.

Oh, so you just figured that the original poster wanted people to tell him how stupid he was for even considering the swap?

I know what I have, other people always say "you can't do this swap because you essentially have a cloud car." I'm not above anybody, there are plenty of people who know more about DSMs than me.

I just said that to point out than either swap can have it's problems.
For me, the 4g63T swap would be the smart thing to do, because my 420A took a dump, and now I need a motor, I also want a turbo, and I can't afford to buy both a 420a and a turbo kit.

But yeah...you're right...i am wrong...you are god...I am merely a servant...4g63 is Gods gift to cars...420A belongs in a TYCO RC :thumb:

No, it probably would fit better in a go-cart.:thumb:

well....I never said it was stupid...i pasted something that evan2...who i guess was jus banned....asked me to...then i said i hate the site and wanna be banned....so please.....ban me :thumb:

with time and dedication you can swap any motor into any car. i believe there is someone on the net that swapped in a GM 305 small block into one of these cars. i am not %100 sure about this, but as i recall it was rwd and everything was custom made. the point here is that if you really wanna do it, then do it. but it would be easier to just buy a real turbo'd car and be done with it.

Off topic, but i've seen the 3.8SC pontiac in an early 90's Integra, as well as a mid 90's Saturn SC. the Saturn ran a 13.2 with drag radials and a FULL interior with that SC3.8, almost bone stock. i was impressed.

anyways, sorry to get off topic... just thought i'd share that tid bit about "any motor - any car"

Anyone else want to join in on the whiney bi*** fest? Seriously. This thread is one of the worst examples of a 3rd grade argument I can remember seeing in a long time.

this therad is just a bunch of people arguing, look at it this way if the engine was made for that car, its the best most raliable way to go, and if you would like to do a engine swap to any car ofther than hondas expect to pay big $$$ at that point it becomes pointless, because for that much you can buy a much faster car with the factory reliability
