Well, about a year ago I had my transmission rebuilt by John Shepherd, and also put in an ACT2100 at the same time. Everything has been great until recently. It started becoming harder to change gears, and had to apply more pressure to get it to switch. And now, if the car is started, I can't get it into any gear at all. If the car is off, it shifts fine, which leads me to believe its not the shifter cables or anything. Also, when running, the car vibrates a lot but the vibrations go away if i push in the clutch. I'm thinking this is a pressure plate, or maybe even a tob problem but I'd like to hear some opinions. I'm gonna take it to my uncle's shop soon, but I'd like to order the clutch before then if I'm sure that is the problem. Thanks

Sean

Yeah it sounds like the problem I just had. I replaced my whole setup and now my cars shifts great.

try a simple pedal adjustment first. Mine did the exact same thing and as soon as I backed the pedal out a little it was fine. Don't take anything apart before spending 10 minutes to do this.

Just to follow up on this thread ... my car started having the problem again and this time it wasn't just a simple hydraulic adjustment. Turns out the act street disc actually broke at the hub and a spring popped out. Awesome :thumb: . I just bought a new disc and installed it and all is well now.

Yeah I'm still a little bewildered as to what happened to mine. The fingers on the pressure plate had lost their height by about a quarter inch. This had caused them to actually rub against the springs in the disk, which notched a couple of those springs. Also, the wear pattern on the disk and flywheel was on the outside surface area, as if it was only contacting there. Other than that, nothing was really out of the ordinary, and it is back to normal after replacing the disk/pp.
