Don't forget you have a 3000gt vr-4 fuel pump in the box at the garage. Steve, would that provide enough flow with out over-running the FPR a whole lot correct? Or is an AFPR still needed?
 
Heres one for ya,

We measured the psi of the regulator with the after market pump in. 45psi, with the hose pulled off of it. So if the TSM says 36-38psi, this is obviously not good. Well just for fun we tested the regulator with the stock fuel pump, and it was 42psi with the hose pulled off. So we swapped with another stock fuel regulator, and it read 45psi also.... We have 4 more spare fuel pressure regulators. We'll see what they say. I wonder if this means the fuel pump could be getting higher then normal voltage?
 
If you did all that on the same car with the same pressure gauge I'd wonder about a couple of things.

Was there a battery charger hooked up that might have caused a higher then normal voltage?
Is the gauge accurate?

You say a second stock FPR gave you 45psi. Was that with the stock pump or the walbro 255?

No battery charger was on the car. This was all done on the same car with the stock fuel pump. We had another thought that maybe the return line was possibly clogged up, causing abnormally high readings. So we took the return line and let it dump into a bucket. Same readings. So we are going to take a voltmeter and test the lines going to the fuel pump and see if its getting higher than normal voltage, which would make the pump kick out more fuel then it's supposed to. And mind you this is with a stock fuel pump that we are getting these readings.

But the problem with that theory is that the Walbro 255 gave a 45psi reading also. So if the voltage was higher then what it is supposed to be, then the 255 should have read even higher then what it did. We have 3 other Talons that are bone stock. We are going to test them along with my car and see what the results are. My uncle had 4 spare regulators sitting around from diffrent cars we've had at the garage, so he decided to test them. Two of them came to 38psi, one was 37psi and the other was 42psi. They were tested on a stock 91 Talon. We also have another gauge that we will try. We will see what it says.
 
Yeah I asked my uncle about that. He said that he doesn't have any auto regulators, we have one 2g reg. but that doesn't even fit, and it looks completly diffrent. The rest are M/T regulators, but who knows where the previous owners of the cars got them from before they got into our hands. I know for sure that 2 of the cars that we haven't tested yet still have the original regulators on them. They have the same 15years of road grime, 15years of growth on them. I say growth, cause I don't know how some of this stuff gets in the places it does on cars, unless it has been growing there..... :barf:
 
ya check this out larry. i tested the white car 91 tsi 54psi with the hose off. i guess the gauge could be messed up, but thats the second gauge thati have tried.

WOW thats just ridiculous.

Actully your dad said that the gauge was 2psi off, which would mabey mean that the FPR on the white car might be from a non-turbo 2.0L motor. But their hasn't been a non-turbo 2.0 at the garage. Test the gold car and the AWD TACO. See what those come out to.
