Just askin, but I've been lookin into a grounding kit.... I know buddy club and apex'i make some kits.. but I read in the Tech articles of a Make your own ground kit... just wonderin if anyone else has bought a kit, or done the Tech article... and did it help at all? any noticible gain, power or eletrical wise? thx...

get yourself a nice 4ga amp kit for around 30 off ebay, that will have like 20 feet of 4ga wire. then go to autozone and get about 4 packs of brass 2ga or 4ga battery terminal thingies. make your own kit for way cheaper.

dont expect to feel any gain though. aside from putting less stress on the electrical system your just doing whats already there.

Buying the grounding kit is just a waste of money... Buy the wire and ends and do it yourself, I spent 30 bucks and 2 hours. Ignition system seems more stabile at high rpms and lights and stereo seem more stable also, dont know about actual HP gains.

the apexi kit also makes decent gains for such a trivial part on a dyno....tryign to find the graph i saw before somewhere

Let me know when you buy the kit. I have a bridge to sell you.

I hooked up/made my own grounding kit. It costed me $0.00 to make it (I just happend to have wire and terminals) and there were little to no performance gains from what i could tell. The lights on the inside seemed to be a little brighter. It gave my engine bay a little more eye candy. :thumb: :talon:

yep but its the price of an safc also..but i have always liked Apex'i parts....great quality nad results

ok i found the article and its says that if u want better more stable spark mount them near the head and distributor, to increase and stablize elecyticity and get more low end to mid range torque your should mount them near the alternator, and the way i would go is with the body they say that the firewall is best this will give u better auto quality with less electrical noise, better start ups, brighter lights, and a slight power improvment. :thumb: HOPE THIS HELPS

yea, I made my own for about 15 bucks. Wire from batt to shock tower, batt to firewall, batt to throttle body, throttle body to drivers side shock tower, drivers side shock tower to alt.

no hp gains, but well the only diff I noticed is the eye candy.... lights are the same, stereo is the same, granted it and the amps have thier own dedicated 2ga power wire and grounds...

I definately would say NO to buying a grounding kit. heck Ill make you one if you pay for shipping and my materials.

how are you going to "notice" 3 or 4 hp.....unless you have a dyno to back it up like some companies have theres no reason for Butt dyno numbers

Come on... $250+ for some wire, connectors and a pretty little box? I am sure they are "proven" to work on car that has more corroded wires than the Titianic.

I hate to see these big companies push absolutely BS products. It's not about strapping as many "performance" parts to your car as you possibly can. It's about understanding what goes on in the car and unlocking the performance potential from the areas that are capable.

Sure I was a little harsh, but the question needed no debate. This product belongs in the Tornado and Zmax section, right next to the electric super-duper charger.

Well said Omega! I agree but disagree with you on this. Most of our cars do have the corroded wires and most of them need that little extra help for their ground and you cant go into it expecting a mircle to happen and get a 30+ horespower increase. Although, if you are not crafty enough to make your own grounding kit then you are a Tool for having to buy a universal grounding kit for 200+ dollars.

i hardly would say apex'i pushes bs products

I wouldn't say that they are BS products but it is ready made system that is made for you and packaged in a pretty box with a name brand.

It's kinda like spending 80 or 90 bucks on an EGR blockoff plate.

I think it is a benificial thing to do. I noticed an increase of .5 volts on my volt meter and the voltage remains steady all the time.

PS I made my own for the record....did not buy one.

Thx guys... I wasn't planning on spending all of that money on a pre-made kit ne wayz... just wanted some feedback... Thank you defiant for the links, they definatly put me over the edge to go ahead with it...
