Windshield washer squirter...broke?

I was polishing my car today, and bumped my drivers side washer fluid squirter out of the hood. I spent nearly an hour trying to get it back in properly, and I couldn't get it to spray up, it would just spray at the bottom of the windshield. Damn, it was pissing me off so bad. I finally got it to work by messing with the little rubber gasket around the bottom of the nozzle itself. The front (closest to the windshield) of the gasket is under the nozzle, but the back (closest to the front of the car) I had to lift up and place around the nozzle. Is there a trick to getting these things to go in correctly, or is mine just broke?

Yours might be abit tired and need to be replaced. They should be pretty straight forward to install. Insert the part that closest to the windshield first, then slide them towards the windshield, next lower the end facing the front of the car & use a small slotted screwdriver on the bottom side of the hood to gently pull the tab under the hood, while doing this slide the nozle towards the front of the car. Should lock/stay in place if you do this.
