Spyder Window / Door Weatherstrip

I'm running into a leak that is somehow getting into the door, dripping off part of the window track, hitting the speaker and ending up on the floor. It's not running down the inside of the window, so I'm assuming it's coming from the base of the window where it meets the door.

The rubber gasket that sits there looks like it's in good shape and was replaced a few years ago when the car was repainted. I'm wondering if that's the only barrier between the outside and the inside of the door. Is there anything else under there that acts as weatherstripping?

Does anyone know what part number that would be and how the heck you remove it from the car? It's the left side.

I'm thinking I need #6, but there has to be something else in there that block the water from making it inside the door?

#6 is the interior piece that goes between the window and the door panel, so if that is worn it might not be pressing the window out toward the outer seal causing a leak. Also, there is/was a plastic sheet between the metal door and the door panel. If thats missing you could have this problem too.

i had the exact same problem with my spyder, i used number 6 and it hasnt leaked yet and it rains quite a bit here in italy

So #6 is inside and that would make #11 outside?

Any idea how you pull them out?

Also, there is/was a plastic sheet between the metal door and the door panel. If thats missing you could have this problem too.

Yeah, the plastic is there, but the water is running down and hitting the speaker pod, so it's able to bypass the plastic.

What made you go with the inner piece and not the outer? I was thinking the outer piece would be the first place to start. Or maybe I should just buy them both?

Ah, $#%# it. I just ordered them both. Anyone have any idea how they come out? I hope that's the problem because it was $123.97 for both of them shipped!

Lower the window, remove the door panel, then pull it up. There are a few tabs you will probably need to pry up to get the old ones out. 10 min a side at most.

To install the new ones, line them up and press them down on the metal. Be careful not to bend them installing them.

Well, it looks like that didn't work. It rained a little last night and it was wet inside the door. $125 down the drain.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Take the door panel off and spray water on it while someone watches to see were it leaks in at.

Also, I had an issue with leaks right at the mirror to frame seal.

The water is coming in between the window and the seal. I pulled apart the passenger side door and that door leaks as well except it doesn't make it into the cab. After further inspection, it looks like that seal is designed to leak and the Mitsubishi never designed the vehicle door to be water tight.

I'm going to reseal the plastic inside the door and see if that keeps the water from making it inside the cabin.

So if anyone else notices water inside their door, don't waste your money spending $130 on window seals because it won't make a bit of difference.

the only thing that made me go with the inner over the outter was because it wasnt leaking horrible. i have seen other spyder owners and theirs was almost like there was a built in water faucet when it rains

I know this thread is ancient, but I'm having the exact same problem with the speaker seepage. Was this ever resolved?
