Right now I have the homemade boost controller with the brass T and a bolt with a nut to lock it down. They where throwing away some used parts at work and I found an adjustable pressure regulator. The regulator was on a piece of our equipment which had a 120 psi supply and worked fine. I have attached a picture of the regulator. I was wondering if it would work or do I need something that actually bleeds the pressure off instead of just regulating it.

If you can get fittings to fit on it, I don't see why you can't use it. Although a 120psi regulator will be a little overkill, you will have to definitely play with it to be able to figure out where the knob needs to be to find the correct the boost setting.

Yes, im pretty sure it will work, but your going to spend alot of time trying to find fittings, and how to set your boost when you can find a used hallman in the classifieds or on craigslist for 20-50bucks

I already have the fittings, I might go ahead and try it. Anyone know what pressure the diagram in the wastegate actually needs?

No it wont regulate down far enough. I have one at home i use for pressure checking it wont go below 25 before you use it on a car hook a guage to tje side and try turning it dow and see for yourself

Please...pull $50 out of your wallet and go buy something designed and built to work on your car. These "how cheap and jenky can I get and still start, run, and drive" threads get old.

There isn't anything wrong with the homemade boost controller I have, I just thought it would be easy to adjust the boost with a knob instead of breaking a nut loose and adjusting with a allen wrench. Sorry i'm not rich and trying to think of ways to reuse something that was going to be thrown away. Thanks for the post, brian9397gsx that is exactly what I needed to know.

Those regulators are nice to keep around though for various jobs in the garage, if you have an air compressor in the first place anyway. Do boost leak tests, cylinder leak down, etc. Free stuff is awesome :thumb:
