Why would I need the pocketlogger and the wideband? Does the wideband ONLY do 02 measuring? Im guessing I would need the p-logger to get the knock and stuff. I can get a pocketlogger setup for $100 and a MAFT for $180, so could I go without the innovate or would I absolutely need it for my 2.4 and fp turbo setup?

You do want a logger, knock is generally more important than A/F ratio on pump gas.

With the kind of power it sounds like you want to make, you are going to want to get rid of your 1g MAF. Do a little research about your options with regard to that.

I know that I will probably need the GM MAF and MAFT, along with many other things. But I was just wondering why would I need the Innovate Wideband if I already have a/f ratio with the pocketlogger?

You don't get a/f ratio with the pocketlogger. You get o2 voltage but that can't be trust for tuning since the stock o2 sensors are narrowband, not wideband.

Definitely get the 1g pocketlogger. You'll be able to see timing advance and knock count; knock count is the biggest factor and I would do the majority of my tuning from that. Then if you have the cash, get the wideband. That will let you tune for an exact air/fuel ratio, and then use the logger to make sure you're not getting knock at that ratio.

If you've got this kind of money (2.4 swap, fp turbo, gm maft, wideband) you should think about the dsmlink for 1g's that I think is coming out soon. Would be a very powerful tuning/loggin tool.

CAn I run the MAFT with all the stock tubing for now with a blow through setup?

Pretty much no. For very little in cost and work, you could run the maft in draw through style. You would just need a new filter->gm maf->intake pipe to inlet of turbo. Upper ic piping stays the same. You still CAN'T vent in this setup.

Or if you go blow through, you will most likely need new upper ic piping meant for the gm maf (I tried couplers and it didn't work, the pre-fabed piping is much better) new intake filer, new vpc intake pipe to turbo...

Yeah I think I will save the MAFT for future mods...that I can afford LOL. The dsmlink might definately be an option, since Im spending almost $600 with the pocketlogger/SAFC/Wideband/ why not just spend $800 (I think?) for the dsmlink?

Can the dsmlink log and tune? They look kickass

You still should get rid of the 1g maf though like kpt4321 said. Even if you don't go with the gm maft yet, at least put a 2g higher flowing maf in there. I have one for sell too off my 99gst, pm me if you're interested.

Dsmlink is an awesome tool. Yes it can lot and tune, and do a million other things, like turbo spool up and stutterbox, just awesome. I'm not sure when the 1g version is coming out, and it might be buggy at first, who knows. But for a 2g, I think it's like 650 for the software, 150 for a 95 eeprom ecu, and then a laptop if you don't have one.

Since you are a 1g though, I think a pocketlogger to see knock count and timing advance coupled with an LM-1 wideband would also be a killer combo. I guess you need a safc to adjust fuel, and yeah, I guess you are pushing 800 bucks... Good luck either way...

Yeah, would I encounter any problems with swapping to a EPROM ecu, or is it plug and play? I have this feeling that I will be going crazy if I try to swap to a EPROM....just seems rreeeeally hard (tuning wise).

Im definately keeping the MAFT on the to do list, along with lots others. Im going to do all this later, including the DSMLink or other system. I better get a job for all this shit  :thumbdown

I think were putting the 2.4L, and possibly a larger turbo, in the car sometime during the summer, once we get everything together. I think we might try retro-fitting some type of buick turbo or something SpeedInc has lying around (yes! I get to walk around SpeedInc!! :D ).
