Will an alignment scratch my new rims??

I am worried that all shops use the same clamps and will screw up my new rims, anyone have any ideas?

I was worried about that as well. I am lucky enough to have a local DSMer as my alignment guy, but he assured me that it is safe. I watched as the clamps were installed, but each of the 4 corners had rubber guards on them. He is a tech at Belle Tire and I would assume all Belle Tire shops have the same computerized alignment racks. The clamps they used were 100% safe on my rims.

I worked there for about 3 days, but in those 3 days I saw alot of high end chrome rim sales. They mounted the same clamps on the $2.5k rims they sold as they did on mine, so I'm confident they won't scratch the coating on mine.

Just ask them and I'm sure they will gladly show you the clamps and if you feel uncomfortable, move on to the next shop.

if worst comes too worst you can use the clamp kind without rubber guards...the machine i use dosent have rubber guards and i havent scratched a rim yet...it all just depends on whos preforming the alignment.
