I know this is a dumb question, but i just bought a 1991 TSi awd w/ auto trans, i was just wondering if it was worth swapping out the 13b it came with for a T25 from a 2g, this car is just for a toy anyway!

Eh, not really, it would be a downgrade. My car has that turbo on it, but im not the one that did it and i prolly wouldnt have done it just because its not cost effective because you could get a 14b for just alittle more. But im not complaining that its on there, it is a better turbo then the t-25 it flows about 50-60 more cfm at the same psi and the boost dosnt fall off like it does on the T-25.

maybe i typed that wrong... the car has a 13b now, i want to know if putting my T25 on it will be an upgrade performance wise

Both turbos suck.

no joke!

but i have heard the 13b @ 12 psi creates so much heat that after 13psi its like going backwards, and alot of people run 15+ on the t25, plus the J pipe on the 13b is so small, i would think the T25 with a stock 2g lower IC pipe would flow better also

alot of people hate the t25 but i have to belive its better than the 13b

Yeah I honestly didn't want to open a can of worms debating this because honestly, who cares? You shouldn't use either of these turbos BUT I think Clownface's info isn't correct. 3000GT VR4s have 9B turbos stock, they smallest upgrade available is the 13G, which can only hold 16psi to redline with bigger 450cc injectors. Anything above that and it just falls. The T25 can run higher boost midrange I believe, even if it falls off right at redline, I still think it flows more than a 13g.

Oh, if you do take yours off (and you should) please PM me so I can buy it for my friends Stealth.

Well i have a boost gauge and i watch it hold boost, ive never seen it fall......also....isnt a 13g the turbo on a non STI WRX>???

and im also pretty sure the 13g flows 305 cfm at 14 psi compaired to what....250 on a t-25?

im not saying its a good turbo, i know its a POS, im just pretty sure its better then a t-to slow.

bigger 450cc injectors? um, 2g turbo manuals have 450cc stock injectors.....but i dont usually run more then 16psi...but thats about what i run and ive never seen it fall off....

I dunno if a 13g from a 1st gen would bolt up to a stealth or not.

The 13g flows more like 360 CFM, which is going to put you in the 28 lb/min range (that's a quick guess based on the 14b).

That means that the 13g is probably a little bit bigger than the T-25.

On the other hand, the difference is not big enough to warrant switching from one to the other, so I don't want to see any 2g guys switching to the 13g. It and the T-25 both suck. A lot.

Just so you all know, the 13g was put on the car along time before i got it because the dudes had one laying around and the t-25 went boom. I wouldnt have putt it on there.

My buddy runs 14.0 on his t25 i dont think it sucks that bad and pulls on hooked up hondas. So it cant be all that bad.

"bigger" 450cc injectors are because I was talking about the Stealth which comes stock with 360cc injectors.

oooo, okay, i didnt understand what you where trying to say but i see now, i still dont agree with what you said though. :p

ok, aside from the 13b flowing better than the t25, have any of you ever measured the outlet pipe of the 13b? sure i could buy an aftermarket J pipe to free it up, but i have a t25 sitting here that is in great shape, im not worried about the install, its fun to do and it will cost $5 maybe on oil lines from my fathers parts store.... And about the $500 for a brand new 16g.... i dont think so this is an auto awd... im going to do all the cheap mods i can and put the car out by the road forsale, when some kid stops by to check it out and i tell em i put a second generation turbo on the car with bigger injectors and this and that his eyes will lights up. but i like to hear the input, a flow chart on both turbos would be great :thumb:

this has already been said...but....ITS A 13 GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.
Just dont worry about it, i dont think the J-pipe restricts it enough to make it worse then the t-25. If you wanna impress some stupid kid tell them its got the same kinda turbo as a WRX. :thumb:
