Hey guys
The other day got in the car went to turn the key and nothing didn't even crank like the battery was dead, but it wasn't cuz everything still had power. So I did it 1 or 2 more times and finally it fired right off didn't even crank more that once. Even if the starter is going bad it will still crank right. Could it be plug wires or something in the ignigtion coil ect...

thanks guys

The ony things that effect cranking rather than starting up is the power, starter, and circuit that activates the starter solenoid. (ignition switch, clutch safety switch, starter relay)

So if it doesn't crank (turn over) then looking at the wire or coils is pointless.

My starter has been making the well known scratch at start up that im sure you've heard of. A guy on here told me that when it does its starting to go bad is that true. Also it only does it when its been sitting for quite a while like a day or 8-10 hours

thanks bro

I had a weird issue like yours about 10 months ago. I was doing a compression test at the time and only got through the first two cylinders. I tried cranking the engine over for #3 and -nothing-... I couldn't figure out what was going on. After trying to start it for about 3 minutes, it finally decided to go.

A week later, the same thing happened. Good thing I had access to a lift at the time, or I wouldn't have been able to fix it. I tested relays first(which were all good), then decided to wiggle the S terminal on the starter. Lowered my car off the lift, and it cranked over just fine. Since then, I haven't had a problem.

I had same problem, only my car would start on the 3rd or 4th try when starting it the first time of the day. A mechanic advised me to replace throtle position sensor. That helped but didn't solve the problem, so i replaced the fuel filter and the fuel pump. The car starts up right away on the first try. I hope this info. helps you out.
