Wierd 2g sunroof help!!!

Alright so when I got my car I forgot to check out the sunroof. Basically I've never seen a sunroof like this on a 2g before so I"m thinking that its aftermarket. If its not someone let me know what exactly its from because its broken and I need a replacement. Also if anyone knows of any good brands or places to get sunroofs let me know thanks!!!

I try not to look at it, but keep catching myself staring.

Somebody removed the factory shade and put in those crappy mini-van window screens. You may get lucky finding a factory shade at a local junkyard.

that shade definately isnt factory take some more pictures with the sunroof open/closed and the shade out of the way

I didn't have the factory shade so I had to put some nice limo tint on the sucker to keep the sun out when needed.

I can't really see your sunroof with that crazy shade in the way.

how much of a difference is there from a 96 talon and 96 eclipse sunroof...I have a spare but its wayyy smaller and its from a talon...

I was looking at the switch in that picture and that is definitely not stock. The 1g DSM had a flip up roof that was not automated. That one looks like it is motorized and opens all the way. (from what I can tell.

the shades are actually in there nice....like the sunroof was made for them. I just want to put a regular sunroof in there does anybody have the dimensions of their 96 sunroof? let me know thanks!

the stock cover is a two peice that slides into one another then into the roof

oh I know that....I"m not wondering about the shades I"m wondering about the actual sunroof...wondering if that in fact is aftermarket or not...

the shades aren't factory, neither is the switch.

Can you take a picture with the shades closed form the interior and of the outside? Also pictures of the mounting/sliding points? It doesn't look factory to me.

The sunroof it doesn't open, because both of the brackets that hold the sunroof glass are broken I"m trying to find out where I can get a replacement. Also the the gear inside the motor is stripped.

thats not a stock sunroof homey i dont think, it looks like the distance between the sunroof and the top of the windshield is a lot bigger then mine, and it looks kinda flat, mine curves more with the car.

If it is aftermarket, someone took the time to replace the headliner with a headliner from a dsm that had a sunroof. The sliding sun shade for the oem sunroof was an option, so dont rely on that for any evidence. It could be a non oem replacement for the sunroof.

may could try a body shop. don't think theres any shops that specialize in sunroofs although i may be wrong . but that sunroof is defiantly not factory, even the sealing around the headliner is different from factory.

defiantly a good chance it didnt come with a factory sunroof being a early 2nd gen since the 97-99s GST/Xs all came with sunroofs

Thats what my sunroof looks like too, but right now i dont have the sunroof glass or a gear to make it go back and forth...

Just a thought, be aware. I may be wrong but I think Mitsubishi made two different sunroof applications for 1997(if not other years, as well). I was trying to replace my headliner and pulled the wrong one from a "97"car at a pick-N-Pull. When I measured the sunroof later, it was a different size.

One style has lights on the mirror, pay close attention to the dome light on your model. I did at least manage to get some nifty visors to replace mine though.

You are. The factory only had one size. Aftermarket's a crapshoot.
