why's my turbo gettin loose?

Hey DSM'ers I have a question about my 92' TSi Talon. I have recently installed a TD05 EVO III turbo, from the factory 14b (cuz of automatic). I have all the required hardware, but since I had it on for some reason the exhaust manifold to turbo bolts are comin loose! I cant understand why... I was thinkin lock washers, but it gets so hot there what are they gonna do? And washer period dont work....hit me up or post somethin to give me some ideas! thanks dsmtrouble

I've been having the same problem. Make sure that you're using 1 washer per bolt so that the bolts are getting enough thread into the turbo. Also, make sure you're torqing them evenly.

Tighten the turbo up, get it up to operating temp, the retorque the bolts. Do this a couple of times and see if it helps.

What is the exact torque spec on that? The turbo to manifold bolts?

if you have an aftermarket downpipe or have taken off the stock downpipe, you probably took off the stupid bracket that bolts the downpipe to the block. if that clamp isnt there it causes the turbo bolts to come loose. try puting some locktite on the bolts, then torque them to spec. worked for my old gsx

I just used locktight. It smoked like a bi*** at first but what didn't burn did hold the bolts tight.

I bought the turbo lock washers from DSMotorsports and it fixed my problem. They are wassher with a slight angle and little nipples on them.

Drill and safety wire. Mine have never come out with this treatment.
