winnipeg,
What is the advantage to this mod? Is this worthwhile to do to a stock TSI? What kinds of gains if any could I expect?

Solution
re-wireing the fuel pump helps the fuel pump maintain a higher fuel pressure by allowing more voltage to the pump itself because the stock one is pretty small.

Solution
That's pretty much right. It allows voltage to stay constant at higher RPM. At high RPM the fuel pump only receive's about 10 volts instead of the full 13. This helps it maintain consistant pressure at higher rpms.
