even my friend's big SUV can bust U-turns better than my 2g. i'd need at least two big lanes to make a U-turn, or else i gotta put it in reverse...

so it's only my car with this problem and everyone's 2g can make U-turns as well as any other car?

nope my 2g eclipse makes TERRIBLE turns too, it drives me nuts too, didnt know if it was just mine either, but obviously not... my old 240sx RWD made U-turns perfect, and my moms van and dads truck do better, and then when I first tried in that car i was like shit, LOL, so nothin to worry about...just now u know u need LOTS of room LOL

Its funny, on a two-way single lane road I can angle out say left (when I need to go right) out of a driveway and turn and end up on the opposite end of traffic to get back into my lane.

When I do a U-turn on a 3 lane road I end up almost in the third lane. so its not really just your car. You might want to briefly turn the opposite direction you are turning (i.e. turn left a little bit) Then crank it to the direction you wish to go (right).

just throwing out a guess here, but maybe it's got something to do with being front-wheel drive. My tahoe seems to make tighter turn than my eclipse. probably has to do with driveshaft/cv angles.

It has everything to do with front wheel drive. Almost any RWD car will have a great advantage over almost any FWD car. A GSX, VR-4 or an EVO is included in the heap because they are set up like front wheel drive cars with transverse mounted engines. Car's with longitudinal setups like trucks/big SUV's, Camaros, 240's etc have more room for larger steering racks and tie rods, etc and can acheive better angles due to extra clearance.

LoL no, we have all thought this one time or another. Usually when we go to make a U-turn and have to reverse into oncoming traffic, because we thought we could make it:D

The eclipses have smaller turning radius. When i do i U-Turn i use the hand brake to help me out..:D Its takes some practice tho... but its fun.

its true..turning circle on the 2g sucks ..because of the oversized cv joints....

every other car ive driven can do u turns and be parked easier...

but..i love my dsm...

u guys ever notice the crazy turning circles in the C and E Class...u can turn the front wheels almost 75 degrees on those..

yeah, my suburban has a better turning radius!!!:thumbdown IS there any remedy for this, shorter tie-rod ends maybe? i really dont know at all, but it is horrendous!:thumbdown

I'm afraid the turning circle is just one of the things you'll have to deal with.

When it starts to bother you, just park it, get out and look at how goddamned pretty it is.

It's usually enough to make you forget.

I already had forgotten how to make a U-turn on the street. I usually will turn left to an alley and do a 3-point turn there. For a small car, the DSM really turns like a bus. But what counts is speed.

I had testdriven the new CLK and E-class cars from Mercedes Benz and those cars can make you forget 3-point turns. They can bust a U on almost any street, really amazing.

i used to have a 94 tsi fwd and turned like crap. my 91 tsi awd turns maybe alittle bit worst. i usually reverse back at least 2 times just so i don't hit a car while busting a u-turn in a parking lot. my 240sx on the other hand can slide around no problem at all. gotta love handling with rwd!

same here like a week after 1st getting mine i tryed to do a u-turn and some traffic was comeing so i kinda hurried. ending result 2 foot white scrap on my quarter panel/side skirt:cry:

wow i m really glad that someone asked this cuz i thought maybe i was just retarded. my mom c class can turn around in the drive way. i can even turn in the drive way. LOL

It you thought your turning sucked in parking lots and drive throughs try an AWD with a locked center diff....I get the wierdest looks too when people think i am pealing out into a parking space.
