Seems like every company is self proclaimed "the highest flowing". Has any one seen any data (flow/CFM) that indicates wich converter is in fact has the best flow? Post it up!

I would get catco from summit its like 40 bucks

i got my 3" cat from buschur when i ordered their 3" exhaust. works fine, but i had to weld on a flange to fit the 3" downpipe that was on my car already. Becuase the buschur is a slip-on fit, while mine had the 2 bolt flange

Another thing you want to look for is how well it reduces NOx. Many high flow cats don't remove enough NOx to pass emissions, so look for one that is CARB certified.

I have a Catco from Summit. It DEFINATELY makes a difference in how the exhaust smells. Even when I ran it lean with the cutout open just to see if it made a difference, it still burned my eyes and choked me. It didnt come with any real emissions information, but I guess it works. The exhaust still stinks versus toxic waste smelling stuff, but its not a big restriction either, my exhaust is still loud with it, a resonator, and an Edelbrock 5525 muffler.

Posted this on 3 boards without any documented flow data....

I think I'll stick with a straight/test pipe until until installing one is mandetory.

Thanks guys.

this post wont be very helpful as i dont have any numbers, but to add to what everyone else said i bought a universal catco 3" cat and got it welded on and didnt really notice too much of a difference. Top end was hurt but im talkin maybe i lost like half a car-length at the end of a 1/4. At the time my car was all stock except for the exhaust and i put it on after i had the exhaust made and had driven the car without it, so maybe it didnt make too much of a difference as i wasnt making much power and its been on the car since, but a catco high flow cat is a good way to go if you are going to put a cat back on. i like it! :thumb:

Don't you still have the stock DP? Put it on the night before getting it smogged. Then put the straight pipe back on after passing the test. Has always worked for me.

I really only have a 3 inch downpipe ATM.... soon as my motor gets put back in I am taking it straight over to a muffler shop for a catback. I was up last night buyin parts for it on ebay.....

Two RACE 18" bullet resonaters FTW (FTW=for the win :| :p )

I've always heard that Random Technology makes the best flowing/functioning cats around. You'll sure pay for it though, a universal 3" inlet/outlet costs $170.99 here: Fasttoys

I've never used one on any of my cars, but I can tell you that the build quality is top notch. Remember, 9 times out of 10, you get what you pay for.

Cheers,

Dustin :talon:

IIRC SCC or Turbo magazine did a cat-shootout a while ago..

I had a Random Tech on my old 3rd gen RX-7. Really nice piece, I killed it within a year though. Not the motor, the cat. :coy:
