Hey,
I'm looking at purchasing a 91 AWD TSI, and it seems to be in damn good shape. Only thing is, at idle there is whiteish smoke. It doens smell sweet, nor does it make my hand damp. Engine was rebuilt 10K ago (head too, tit. valve springs, stainless valves) but the turbo is orginal with 174K on it. Could it be the turbo seal? I'd do a compression test, but a friend is borrowing mine, and I've already gone to see the car 2x and it isnt exactly close
Thnks
Mike

. It was pretty cold out when I looked at it last, and I did a cold start up (BTW: is it normal for DSMs to idle ~2K for about 15 seconds at startup before settling down to a STEADY 850rpms?) When I lookeded at first, the car was idling and warm and tehre was still that thing white smoke (If i remeber correctly)
