white smoke after idle and while idle sometimes

hi all,

i have been having white smoke coming form the exhaust tail only after idle and sometimes while idle??? if i let the car idles for 4 minutes and then oress the gas a BIG PUFF Of white smoke will go out fromt the exhaust and then when i turn on the AC the car will smoke at idle ????? if i switch on the AC no smoke at idle ??? does the ac have anything to do with white smoke??

1- iam not loosing coolant . the coolant is steady i check it every morning
2- not loosing oil i check my oil level also everyday , my oil is clean and new filter
3- no oil in water or water in oil
4- i remove the intake pipe and checked for turbo shaft play but found nothing??? iam boosting 15 psi on the t25 and its pulling hard , no loss in power what so ever
5- there is some oil in the lower intercooler pipe , not much and its not liquid its just a coat around the pipe .


i put yesterday a LIQUI MOLY Smoke Stop oil additive and noticed a big difference in the OIL Pressure its high now and my car does not smoke as much . its really smoking a bit now not like before? what could this be ? compression test is done and my numbers are good.
but car is still smoking white ???

A lot of things could make a turbo leak oil, not just shaft play(seals). A dirty air filter, or a slow oil drain could both cause a turbo to blow oil also. I'm not sure how familiar you are with cars, but if it is oil you should be able to tell from the small and color, and vice-verse with coolant. Though just a hint, Usually when oil is being burned is has a blue tint, when water is burned it is just white, not color to it.

well the color is white and the oil that was in the lower IC pipe is not much its a coat only.

the car smokes white at idle when the ac is on ?? and smoke after idle when the ac is off. ?

the smoke smells like really bad , i dont have CAT

what it could be? and how come iam smoking if iam not loosing fluids????

How long have you been boosting the t25 @15psi in this weather? And whats the mileage on it? You may have had the smoke for a bit and your Cat was breaking the smoke down to unnoticeable levels. The turbo can have a very small coolant/oil leak within itself which would make it hard to catch when checking fluid levels.

im not flooring it at all now a days iam just saying that my boost level is at 15 psi, the weather is very hot here i know what you mean. as for the mileage it has 178 K on the stock t25 but no shaft play at all and still boosting ,however there is high pitch sound sometimes after 12 PSI.

^^^ In our weather, I think the turbo must need a rebuild of it's seals at that mileage. Since I'm assuming you have checked everything such as basic maint., then you might try swapping the turbo, thats if you have a spare/backup.

i will check on the turbo again, i hope i will find another t25 in here, as for the AC can you tell me why its smoking at idle when the ac is on ? it does not smoke at idle if i switch off the ac???

Well it might just be because when your a/c is on your idle adjusts up a little bit to compensate for the extra load. If your turbo is making a high pitched squealing noise after 12 psi thats sounds like your compressor wheel is rubbing on the inside of the housing. Which means excessive shaft play of some sort. My old 16g did the same thing, and needless to say that turbo was completely F@#%ED in every way, shape, and form. Take the intake pipe off of the turbo and see if there is oil sitting in the bottom of the turbo inlet. or intake pipe.

no a/c. no excessive shaftplay on stock 14b. the old turbo was ####ed.

Does it smoke when you rev the motor up? or just when its idling? i know you mentioned before that it puffs out a big cloud when you trev it up, but does it keep blowing smoke when you hold it? or does it stop when the rpms go up? If you could possibly get a video of it, that would help,

I think its def the turbo, leaking past the seals internally. no shaft play huh? the sound of high pitch just may be the wheel hitting the housing, had that happen before. Bearings may be out also causing this problem. Maybe even rings on the pistons getting blow by....

whites usally at idel for a while. but it started smoking gray again sometimes when i hammer on it from a dead stop. also im hearing a high pitch whine to sometimes like its winding up after i put my 2g ported elbow on it. hmmm i didnt change the oil from when the last turbo was bad, the guy said he was driving it for a thousand mile like that. could that have ruined it?
