I've been having major electrical issues that i believe have a lot to do with my oxygen sensor right after my headers. I removed the sensor and it was completly chalk white.. Is this a sign of leaness? Or anything else?

WOW! ok i just learned something new and after spending my past 2 pay checks on this issue im hoping this was my mistake. I read in an article on this site: http://tacomaterritory.com/wiki/index.php/Oxygen_Sensor_Test that if you used silicone anywhere on your engine (i used it around my headers) it can poison your oxygen sensor and cause it to burn white! Has anyone else ever heard of this?

My O2 sensor has white chalky soot over the "cage" like you're describing, and the site is. The only thing I can think of is the PB Blaster I used to unscrew it from the housing. Other than that, I'm not too sure what could have done it. My O2 sensor is cycling, but at some points it will just 14.4 +- .1 for awhile.

The one thread was plenty.

Yes, white o2 sensors is from using silicone or a silicate antifreeze.

im sorry my threads normally die and no one responds to them unless they stay fresh, so instead of bumping since its not legal i try to continue on another thread. And i dont use race gas. But i guess ill go try and take off the silicone and get a new sensor. Thanks
