whirling noise coming from belt area

I have been hearing a whirling noise coming from the belts and it has been progressively getting louder and tonight it seems to not go away like it normally does. It sounds like its coming right around the timing belt area and it almost sounds like one of the bearings but Im not sure...

Any ideas?

could be the bearings, have you had any work done that involved removing the belts? they could have been put on too tight, or loose.

I have the same issue right now.
When the engine is cooler it sounds louder than at operating temperature. I went ahead and changed all my bearings with Mitsu bearings and got new belts, water pump and the front case (Oil pump) is brand new from (Top Line) I suspect it's the Oil pump because I had some main bearing metal shavings on there when I took it appart after the first build. (I built it once and it walked like 200 miles later)
It also sounded like it came from the belts as well but it wasn't.

You might want to take all the belts off and see and run the engine for ONLY A FEW SECONDS without them to see if the water pump or the AC are the ones making the sound(whirl) you don't want to run it more than a few minutes without the water pump or you will overheat your engine..

I will post when and if I find what's causing it to whine so much..

Does yours whine louder with the engine cooler

mine does the same thing, and the sound is very high pitched and whines louder when the engines cold / air is cold around the car. not sure if the humidity has anything to do with it yet.
