While in drive car doesnt move just revs up

i was leaving the gas station tonight and i put my car into drive its automatic and i hit the gas and it just reved up my engine i put it in reverse it worked the put it into drive but didnt work just reved i then put it into low gear it then moved then while moving put it into drive it then worked but when i gun it it does the same thing like its slipping and not catching can somebody help me out thanks you

Yep, clutches have destroyed themselves, you're major low in ATF, or the internal pump in the tranny went south for the winter.

If your fluid is low add ATF, but make sure you put in "The Right Stuff" - if you add, or added DEXTRON, kiss that tranny goodbye in a heartbeat.

NT's used a Chrysler Fluid. Turbos with the Mitz tranny used a SP-II fluid

yea deffinately check the tranni fluid. sounds way low..

You could be low on Fluid, but if it is going into Reverse and Low fine then I would maybe start "looking" for a new tranny. Hopefully its just the fluid though.

Sounds like its shot man. If it was fluid most likely it wouldnt go into one and not the other. Good luck.

Also try smelling the fluid. Will have a "burnt" smell if its bad and will be a dark brownish color. Will also taste very bitter.

I would also check the fluid. Or as stated above maybe the pump because an auto will most times work in reverse on a stop but wont work in drive. Keep us posted.

turns out that i need a new trans so im jsut going to get my converted to a 5 speed cause mines auto right now

Manuals is a blast to drive, but I would stay with an automatic. They can be faster with the proper mods. But, its your car.
