As the title states, I need to know if the 3" inlet dual 2.5"outlet is going to create more backpressure, than 3" inlet, 3" outlet. And if so WHY??? Which one of them is going to have better performance in terms of flow??Some knowledgable opinions, will be appreciated.

I was being told, that dual 2.5" it will flow less, than 3" in terms of cross refference, or something like that/ I don't really remember/. The person, who stated that knows this stuff, but I just bought the muffler already, even though is not on the car yet. It is not about, that my existng muffler/3'' inlet-3'' outlet, Apexi N1 type/ is too loud. It is about going with the stealth, unnoticable look. Muffler is black and looks very good quality and cops, or whoever, will hardly notice anyhting.

Just I want to make the right decision, without hurting performance and sacrificing spool time .

Thanks in advance. Andy.

It won't effect your performance at all. The area of a 3 in circle is around 30. the area of the 2 2.5 tips is around 50. The volume the 2 2.5 tips will flow will outflow the 3in inlet. you'll be fine

LOL same thought process nice***

The only problem I would forsee is during the separation of the exhaust gases to the dual tips, the gases will hit the middle and might cause an increase in pressure not to mention transitioning from 3" to 2.5", regardless of area will cause some backpressure as well. But it'll be so little you'll probably won't even notice it. Also, I drive around NYC with a 4.5 inch exhaust tip and cops have never haggled me at all. I think you're pretty much safe.

on my turbo mustang i had full 3 1/2 exhaust from the turbo out.i ran a inline bullet for a resinator then a magnaflow muffler 3 1/2 in and dual 2 1/2 out and i lost no power at all.either way will be just fine

Thanks for the replies, guys. Actually the muffler was 3'' in dual 2" out. 2.5" was diameter of the tips, so I asked the guy to return it and get me a 3.5" inlet - 3.5'' outlet and call it a day.
