which main bearing goes on the caps and which goes on the black?

I think the bearings with the cut down the middle go on the block, but im not sure. Can anyone help me out? Do the bearings with no cut go on the bottom?

There should only be one way for them to go. Put one on the block of each the oiling hole will line up with one but not the other. The one that lines up correctly is the one to use on the block. The one with the oil groove goes on the block.

Is there any chance you can mess it up by putting the bearing without the groove on the block and the one with groove on the main cap?

Yes. The groove is there to direct the oil to the bearing that is in the cap. If the ungrooved bearing is in the block, chances are you are getting very little oil to the lower half of the bearing. It will eventually destroy the crank and bearings.

In addition to what 92awddsm said, the oil hole won't be lined up perfectly either which would limit oil flow.
