Ok I'm going to be rebuilding my engine soon and I'm unsure of all the parts I need and what's the best brands of everything to get.... Could you guys give me some suggestions on piston/rods/bearings...ect.
So far I think I'm going with
Hks 272/272 unless you can suggest better
Sbr 4000 clutch
Lightened flywheel
Thinking maybe weisco or ross pistons
Arp everything
Metal headgasket
Ss 1mm oversized valves
And that's about all I've come up with so far. I would like to start ordering parts within the next month and hopefully start the rebuild in about 3 months. I'm looking for maybe 600 or so whp eventually so I need a setup that can handle it. And I'd like to keep the rebuild under 4 grand if its possible. Thanks in advance.

what are your goals? is this going to be daily driven or track only? here's a list that I'd come up with:

272/272 or fp2x
ACT 2900
lightened flywheel
wiseco/manley.. 8.3:1 or possibly a little higher, .020 over
-perhaps stroker..
ARP everything
Mitsu MLS (make sure to deck block and mill head first)
SS 1mm valves
Ti springs/retainers
ported 1g head
magnus SMIM
tubular manifold
tubular o2
garrett turbo
dsmlink v2 or AEM EMS

I could go on and on :tease:

This is going to be a daily driver "for the time being" it will see the drag strip/road course about twice a month on average. After doing some research I think I'm changing my mind about the 272s I think I'm gonna go with the fp2Xs. As for the smim, turbo, exhaust mani and all that stuff, I'm gonna worry about that after the rebuild. I will be getting dsmlink tho before the build is done. And why would you go with the act 2900? I'm just curious , because after reading many threads everyone kinda scared me away from act clutches.
Nick

your reading about act failures maybe then. Absolutely nothing wrong with ACT clutches. Ive used a 2600 for 2yrs, 10k with probly hundreds of launches and nothing but abuse before i needed to replace JUST the disk. The 2900 however isnt too friendly daily driven IMO. Thats the last of your worries if your looking to have a 600whp daily driver. Youll be replacing drivetrain more often than youd like etc.

More than likely, eagle rods are more than enough for you, and wiseco pistons are my choice for a DD/track car by far. I personally also think those SBR clutches r crap from the reviews ive seen.

And i always use ACL bearings. They seem to be more consistant in keeping tighter clearances, ive noticed clevites ending up with slightly larger clearances.

.

Have you personally used our clutch or are you going by hearsay? We have used our clutches in our personal cars and in our AWD race car. We have had no problems with these clutches. The only one that finally died was Nate's AWD race car after tons of dyno pulls, launches, and 1/4 mile runs.

If you are going to start a discussion about a clutch atleast go by both sides. Check this out

im sorry, i thought if you read that statement that the fact i wrote 'from the reviews ive seen' would be a dead give away that from what i heard, people running them werent too thrilled with them.

And no need to turn another thread into SBR backing up their product. Everyones got an opinion, and this thread really has nothing to do with the SBR clutch.
