I've been doing some research on this and I've found a ton of information, but a lot of it varies. I'm buying a set of 650cc fic injectors. I'm trying to decide between a 190 or 255 lph walbro fuel pump. If a 190 will work with the 650 injectors, I'd prefer to go with it. I wont have to change my fpr that way. However, I'm not sure if the 190 will supply enough gas to the 650 injectors. I don't want my fuel rail to be low on pressure and run lean. Which would be best?

I have a 14b turbo. I was wondering how much boost I can get out of this. Are the 650 injectors best for my turbo or should I go 550? Its all a bit overwhelming having to change everything at once. Thanks for any answers. :aha:

also as a side note. I plan on upgrading to a larger turbo at some time. I just want to upgrade the fuel system first. I'm thinking about a 16g.

with 550's you will be fine up to about 370whp from what i have herd if you want to go over the 400hp mark you will need a 255 and injectors bigger than 550 and also at that point you will need to be looking at a good fuel management system

Probably to a 16g. I like the idea of having a direct bolt on. That's why I'm staying away from t-25 and so on.

I just bought a rewire kit. Will the 550cc work with the stock fuel pump after rewire, or should I go ahead and get a 190/255? The 550cc should be plenty large enough for the horsepower range I'm looking at. The goal is simply to beat an SRT-4. LOL.

I would think about what I wanted out of the car,What do you use it for? I would go with a 190 lph, evo 560 injectors, they are actually underated more like 600, a front mount intercooler, a 2g maf apexi safc, 2.5" intercooler piping, 2g throttle body elbow, 2.5 exhaust, 2.5" downpipe, a 16g turbo, str8 thru muffler. Run 15-17 lbs should net you about 275 awhp or 350 at the crank. Of course I would use some type of monitoring device, wideband 02, palm device. If you want more power than this, you will have to go with a bigger setup. The injectors and 2g maf almost compensate for each other, makes tunning a lot easier.:thumb:

I always set a specific goal for the car long term, that way you won't easily outgrow the parts you buy. Keep in mind if you want the swoosh sound from the bov, you will have to run a different maft, to vent it.

that actually sounds about like the setup I'm going for for now. Will I actually have to get a safc. I bought a chip burner for my eprom, so I can tweak the eprom values in almost any way I want. I know there is native support for the 2g maf. I would like the bov sound, but I'm not sure if its worth the $200 for the maft.

I'm already running an eprom with a more aggressive fuel curve. Actually, a bit too aggressive. It's running really rich. Low fuel trim is at 139.9%, medium is around 125% and high is at 100%. I'm not sure why but changes need to be made to it. Are the evo 560 injectors just the stock evo injectors? Or should I be looking for actual evo 560cc?

thanks for all your help guys. I know there's been a lot of questions, but you are all really starting to get this into perspective for me.

ok, the walbro 255 is the best bet on fuel pumps in this case, then if your ganna uprgrade your turbo and decide to run more psi which is most likely ganna happen. you will need 650 to 800cc at the most for injectors or else you'll get high chances of fuel cut, my friend has a 1991 talon tsi with a 20g turbo running 14lbs with 450cc injectors and he gets fuel cut alot now i dont know if this had anything to do with small injectors but he was driving down the road and his wastegate just broke.

If you are going to get an EMS like DSMlink then just get the largest injectors you can get a good price on. Like 800 - 1000 injector range.

If you are getting a SAFC then 650's are the max.

A rewired 190 is more than enough unless you plan to go BIG turbo.

Finally, all this info is on the boards. Please search and read everything you can get your hands on.

Good luck,

Tom

No. You can NEVER swap injectors unless you have something to tune them with otherwise you will run pig rich.

I have an eprom burner and tunerPro. So I do actually have a way of tuning my car for the injectors. I probably should have worded that a little clearer. When I bought my eprom it came with a keydiver chip for 650 injectors. Thats actually why I was wondering what type of fuel pump I'd need for 650 injectors. However, I can tune my car for any size.

I think I'll go ahead and plan for the future. I'll get the 255 pump, a fuel pressure regulator, and 650 injectors. That way, when I eventually upgrade my turbo, I'll have the fuel it needs. My only remaining question is, will my car run rich until I get my new turbo or can I adjust the amount of fuel from the pump with the regulator?

Also, I know this is on a thread somewhere and if nobody want to answer it I'll go ahead and search it out, but how far can I mod this engine without changing out stock internals?

I believe the 1g pressure in the fuel rail is around 38 or so. I there just a simple dial on the afpr to adjust it to this level. I know on my old carbureted engine the afpr had a dial. I had put the engine into a car that one had fuel injection.
