I have been going through DSMTuners.com forums all day trying to figure out what to do with no luck on my situation. So I am hoping that someone that knows more bout the 2g Eclipse computers then I do could help me out. I am doing an auto to manual swap and Some say that there is no need to swap ECU's and some say its required. I don't know either way. I have come to a conclusion that the 95 has an EPROM setup and the Manual doesn't. But now there is a second computer in the 95 that I can't find any info on. So my question to you is, would you keep the EPROM auto computer with a manual transmission or put the manual computer in its place?

Here is what I got:

I think you should do the swap and see how it runs with da eprom first.. It should work now a manual ecu won't work on a automatic.I have researched the difference of all 2g ecu and have concluded that the best is 98 gsx ecu "6676" because it dosent have a speed limiter :)

I would definitely keep the eprom, get it socketed and run ECMLink. Then it doesn't matter manual or auto because you can change everything with link. Plus it will help you out in the long run being able to tune the car for future upgrades

There isn't a different ECU for automatics and manuals on the 2G turbo cars. The automatics have a second computer, the TCU, that controls the transmission and that's the one bolted flat on the floor.

If you are ever going to want to modify the software running in the ECU you'll want the 95 EPROM or one of the 98/99 ECUs. The 97 ECU is stuck being just what it is.

Is the 97 the donor car for swapping the trans to the 95?

Like everyone has stated there is no difference on 2g ecu's. You probably are thinking of the 1g which the ecu's are different from m/t and auto. Stick with the Eprom ecu though!

I'd say a 98/99 ECU due to them being able to get flashed now, as well as much faster datalogging.
