Well, I'm currently buying a bunch of new parts to make my new setup, which I'll put together when I get back to Maine in the spring. It's going to be based around the Eliminator 18g, and I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out which cams I should run. I've heard that the 18g does well on stock cams, but I've heard of people running them on fp2x's. Does anyone have any recommendations to max out this turbo, and still be streetable? I don't want to idle at 1200 rpm, but I don't want to have to upgrade twice.

Right now I'm thinking about running 264/272. Has anyone done any mixing and maching, like running 264/fp2x?

BTW, the rest of my pile of parts is:
Supra SMIC (will build H20 injection kit)
SBR cast/ported ex man

I will be getting:
Ported EVO 02
3" full ex
1g TB
JR Fab SMIM
650/660 injectors, afpr, 190
and the list goes on and on.

Basically I'm asking for advice about the cams, and if anyone has any tips for running an 18g on a 2g? What's your setup?

First I think you might want to think about 750's and a 255 to get the full potenial out of your setup. FP2x's are recomended with dual valve springs and the FP2's or FP1's are not. The FP2's and FP2x's are really gone to shine on the top end, but with you running a TDO5 18g your boost is going to start droping off at redline. You could run the FP1 or FP2 or FP1/FP2 setup. I don't think your going to be able to take full advantage of the FP2x extra top end. You may want to think of if your going to get a bigger turbo eventually or building your head.

The 18G will pull all the way on the factory redline, Power isnt going to drop off.

I have a EVO3 with HKS 272s and it makes GREAT power, I wouldnt go any smaller but thats me and my car move out very well.

Most want to go 50trim and then run not so impressive times, I pull away from my buddys talons with all supporting mods and hes on a 50trim. Im still on a stock side mount im going to go with a supra one soon.

HKS im using stock valve springs, its fine to do but with the FPs you going to need to upgrade them. HKS is more but FPs are cheaper but you need valve springs and correct me if im wrong but you can use the same cam gears with the FP( IM NOT SURE ON THAT)

But You can Def use stock cam gears with the HKSs, PM me if you have qeustions about the HKS.

How much boost are you running on your 18g? Oppps, I see that your on an Evo 3, that turbo doesn't hold more than 25 psi to redline. Thats what I was talking about, but whatever.

My 18g tapers off a little on power at about the 6500rpm mark, but I'm on the stock 90 cams myself. If I was to buy cams right now it'd be HKS 272's or FP2's.

Comp 200's here, idle is smooth at stock 750 rpm. Pulls all the way to redline on my Evo III, and also my PTE-50 Trim.

I wouldnt go with anything smaller than the 272, comp 200 variety.

Thanks for the advice. I've decided on the Comp 200's, but the cams are on the back burner while I spend my money on other stuff right now. Tires, maintenence, finishing basic mods, installing my eprom ecu, buying dsmlink, new fuel system, installing my 18g, supra SMIC, SBR exhaust mani, etc. The to-do list goes on and on. I'll get them, just not for a few months.

On race gas, I hold rock soild 26psi. I shift at 7,300ish and it holds boost. I also have no creep at all.

The EVO 3 flows if not just as much as a 18G, it makes power all the way were I take it to.

It's a toss-up either way. If you want more downlow torque, go with comp 100s. They still rev to 7200 no problem. The 18g spools so quickly, you still have alot of low-end torque so that's why most guys with the 200s, myself included.

I run an 18g and comp 200s and I can still feel the car pulling at 7500. I can hold 22lbs of boost very easily and it doesn't spike nor creep. I wouldn't mind the 100s for more bottom end driveability but it is in NO way bad at all.
