Where's the fuel pump relieve plug on a 2g?

I want to change my fuel filter so I have to relieve my fuel system but I can't find the damn plug to do so.

On this thread it states that the plug is in the hatch but I can't find it anywhere.

Doesn't this plug exist on the 2g or something? Do I really have to remove my backseats and unhook the fuel pump that way just to do a fuel filter change?

The fuel pump assembly is under the backseat in a 2g. You'll have to unplug it from there. If it were me I'd just go ahead and unplug it, the seats in my 1g aren't to hard to pop out at all. I'm not sure about the 2g though, are your seats hard to remove?

I think the plug you are referring to is the electrical connection for the fuel pump. To gain access to this plug, you have to pull the back seat and look for tjhe fuel pump access cover, located on the drivers side under the back seat. Pop the 3 or 4 bolts off (I cant remember how many), and there will be the connector you're looking for.

My .02: You can either just unbolt the filter or unbolt the fitting to the feed side of the fuel rail to relieve pressure. You will get some fuel spillage, but just have a couple rags handy to catch it. This way you dont have to fuss with pulling the rear seat and all that jazz. I did it this way on mine and had no problems except for some gas spillage.

the seats are easy to remove but I'm lazy LOL so I guess I'll just change the fuel filter wihout relieving the system.

Reebis, so you're saying that's what you did too? You just replaced the filter without relieving the system? Define "some" gasoline spillage LOL

I had some gas spill out even when I unplugged my fuel pump and did all that non-sense to release the pressure. I had a 240sx that I changed the fuel pump on and I never unplugged anything and I didn't notice a difference to tell you the truth between that and unplugging the pump on my talon. Not a lot is lost really, just keep some rags near by, and stuff them in the bay around the pump before you unbolt the filter just so gas get everywhere.

Well, I did mine when I was changing the headgasket on my car, but the procedure is the same as you would follow. I disconnected the fuel rail feed line first, the rail will most likely drain along with the line, so there is about 2 cup or so of fluid. Then I removed the fuel line from the top of the filter, not so much fluid here, line should already be drained. After you get the bottom line off, the filter itself will be full of fluid and drain out, albeit slowly so you should be able to keep the spillage there to a minimum. After you get he filter of, the bottom line will be exposed and most likely will seep a little gas out from the pressure of the fluid inside the tank, no way to stop this really, just have a couple rags handy to throw over it to suck it up. All in all, you will spill some gas, but as long as you have some rags to catch it, you will be fine.

Its unnessesary. No fuel system maintains pressure forever. Let it sit for 30-45 minutes and the pressure will have bled down to nothing. No matter what, all the fuel from the rail is coming out that hose when you take it off. Keep a rag handy and you'll be fine.
