toronto,
ok guys, i have a seriously annoying problem that is pushing me to the edge, my car will crank over and then just die....
ive checked the elctrical system, battery, alternator, grounds, ECU, along with replacing the ecu with a known good one, still no difference.
I've replaced and checked the cas, injectors, fpr, intake leaks, coil pack, wires, plugs, power transistor unit, injector resistor pack, the list goes on... I just recently finished swapping the intake manifold gasket, hoping it could be, but alas it did nothing, along with everything else Ive tried.
I can keep the car running by giving it gas, but as soon as I let off throttle it dies...
I went to swap out my fuel pump today, and I broke the fuel line, and stripped all the bolts.... so the fun continues.
after im done replacing that, and it doesnt work still what else do yo suggest?

first comes the generic answer. the isc if you haven't already. then check the egr or just block the thing off. i have the same problem with my car so you might do what i'm doing. sell it.LOL.

well, I dont have a fiav anymore, and Ive swapped 3 different throttle bodies in there with no luck... I havent replaced the isc, but i have checked it, and the test proved perfect...
I also removed every emission component in hopes of fixing my problem

i have a story that could help you.

whenever i disconnect the battery and reconnect it, the car has a hard time finding its idle. i mean i can start it, but as soon as i engage the clutch a little and give it load it would die. but if i keep it revving and try to drive around like that, in 10 minutes of learning the car drives and idles fine.

so i heard its the ISC so i order one and was gonna wait till the next time i reset the ecu. so that time comes and i replace the isc with a reman. one from crebotech. i start it and back out the driveway, no idle problem whatsoever. so i take off down the street and as soon as i stop it dies. then start it and it would fire a few times then die. but if i started it and gave it some gas it would rev up, and i could hold a constant rev and i drove home, and looked at everything. i then took off the new ISC and put the old one back on. upon doing so i noticed the new isc was stuck at its fully extended position, whereas the old one was fully retracted. i put the old one back in and it ran fine.

now i also did the test on both of them. the 6v test did nothing, even on both units the motor did not work. however the resistance test showed 32ohm across the 3 points on both.

so quite possibly its the ISC.

thanks thomas, I kinda feel dumb having done everything including timing belt check etc, and not replacing the idle motor, just checking it, ive got another one here to go on after i can fix my fuel pump etc that i broke yesterday... damn rust.

hey guys, I just replaced ecu caps, fuel pump and isc motor, car acts the exact same way, what else is there to do, im losing patience quickly.

i just started having this same problem tonight after putting on a new intake manifold and 1g tb on my 2g :thumbdown
