im looking for a new head because the thats on there right now has 130k + on it and im getting real bad lifter noise and other knocking, sounds like its on its way out. My personal opinon (note that i said personal, not professional LOL) is that the previous owner let the engine lose enough oil somehow, that the cams got damaged. I dont know but back to my quesiton, im looking for a new head and i dont know where to start. Im looking for something performance but i dont want to spend too much. Im looking for something reman. not new. Any good shops/websites/people to look for? Links and personal stories would be great.

thanks
-kyle

you sure its just a bad case of lifter tick?? Also does it make noise constantly or is there a certian rpm range that it makes noise in?

I put a 1G head in my GST this summer. I got the head off ebay and just looked for someone who offered a decent warranty or something so I could send it back if it wasn't up to my standards.

Type in 4g63 heads on ebay, 1 guy sells rebuilts for 289$ shipped, and clearwater sells complete heads cams etc, fully rebuilt, 300$.

I had REAL good luck with J&C Enterprises Cylinder Head Exchange! -I got the ported and polished 1G head to replace my OE head that had all of it's exhaust valves get munched when the TBelt failed prematurely at 51K. It came loaded with cams, lifters, and rollers. My ONLY complaint was that no studs were included (NONE! NO intake, exhaust, or even the 3 coolant housing studs on the side of it). -Get your stud pullers out and have a blast!

If you are REAL interested in the work that they do, you guys can see the assembled head in my gallery, or email me directly for some detailed pics that I took before I slapped it on. So far, its been 100 miles later, no problems :thumb: I went with the standard 85.5mm Cometic HG + Permatex's Copper HG spray, and ARP stud combo for my 1G 7 bolt. The head I got even came with a 1 year warantee! -I only spent $489 on it! -I am REALLY impressed with them! -I'm even going to get $35 back for my core that's all F'ed up!

...Sorry, forgot the RULES for posting pics in your vehicle's profile... Apparently the admin removed my finished head pic it as it wasn't technically installed in my car just yet :thumbdown . -Oh well, I guess if you want to see pics of it, you will have to email me directly.
