where to get a 3" exhaust

I went with the VRS kit from STM I like it it has a deep sound to it but I am not running a cat.

I plan on going with the ebay catback n1 style and then ebay down pipe. Then I am going to make my own test pipe. I have a friend that works at an exhaust shop and at any exhaust shop a 12 inch segment or so of 3" pipe should be cheap and then the flanges should be like $3-5 a piece. It will be like $500 total.

As for your 02 housing to make it a true 3" exhaust try and find a industral welding place and ask them to make you one. Mine said it would take 2-3 days to make and was only going to charge me $100.00.

I just went to a local muffler shop, and asked him what my options were, and he just ordered my muffler and such, and fabricated it and put it in, in a day.

What are you planning for an o2 housing?? Almost every downpipe available starts out 2.5" then flares out to 3". A 3" inlet on a DP wouldn't be able to bolt up to the mitsu housings. Megan Racing's DP is the best example of how little of 2.5" pipe can be used before going to 3". I bought the full Apexi N1 setup and was VERY disappointed, it was 2.5" until the flex section and almost every angle was made up of different size diameter, short pieces of bent pipe, it would have been lucky if it could flow as well as a properly done 2 1/4". I'm looking to replace this sad excuse for a $900 exhaust set-up that lasted maybe 6 months. I'll probably be going with Megan's DP and like every one has suggested, getting a shop to do the rest, like my first talon.
p.s. the problems i had with the apexi was first the flex section tore open, then the rear most hanger weld cracked and the hanger fell off and was left dangling in the rubber, then another hanger did the same, then a third one. Then the flange at the front of the downpipe, to bolt to the block, cracked and opened up(I didnt even bolt it to the block, it was just there and the welds cracked:notgood:)

Not many people here run true 3" o2 housings or downpipes, and i don't really see why you would want one. My downpipe is a 2.5"opening that opens up right away to a 3" pipe, and let me tell you that its a pain to bolt on. Just get a regular 2.5" to 3" downpipe and a 3" catback.

why not get an ebay downpipe and let the your local muffler shop make a full 3" for you with a test pipe.

On my old RS-T I made my own 2.5" dp and under the oil pan i opened to 3", I bought an ebay "N1 style" stamped RS*R and chopped the reducer that was supposed to bolt to a cat. Made my dp flange to the catless back. I really was suprised with the ebay "N1", every bolt and bend was perfect and sound was deep with no rice. :thumb:

Unless you plan on making serious power there is no need for you to have a 3" exhaust from the turbo back. Get a downpipe from any of the many shops and it'll be just fine.....Sorry I forgot to see what you have done already... I guess it might be about time for full three inch system. I have a custom one piece full three inch SS O2housing/downpipe from AMS and Greddy EVO2 catback exhaust and the sound is amazing...Of course it's an expensive exhaust system, but you get what you pay for. Best sounding exhaust I've ever heard on a DSM.

what o2 housing you running. for the average dsmer they are all 2.5" thus why most downpipes start at 2.5"

get an o2 eliminator downpipe or something, do people even still make these? last was RnR back in the day.
