My new gt35r needs rebuilt :(. Its scrapping on the sides and no spooling at all. It was purchased from slowboy racing but i was wondering where it would be cheapest to get rebuilt? Its ball bearing too.

GT-R turbos can not be rebuilt if your housings are good you mite save a little money. But it sounds like you have contact so you are out of luck buy a borg-warner you can rebuild them.

A rebuild of a 35r is as follows... take off fittings, housings and throw away center section, order new center section chra from Garrett distributor, put all parts back together and on car, check for boost leaks, boost on.

Wow...Im about to just order a new turbo thats not ball bearing.. Thats gonna cost like a grand to fix...

Is there a phone number for garrette and can i just go threw them? I dont feel like going threw slowboy. Can garrette look up the details and tell me if its under warranty

Well my garrette bal bearing turbo took a crap on me and its only got a couple thousand miles on it. I bought it from slowboy racing. Im gonna give them a call tomorrow but with my luck i have a feeling there gonna tell me they cant warranty it. I used the resistors and had a filter running to the turbo and everything(filter, turbo timer.) I just cant see spending all the money i did to drive it for a couple weeks. I made a post http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/278362-where-get-35r-rebuilt.html but im not getting much answers. I read that theres a 1 year warranty. Anyone have any ideas on how i should go about this?

I see you are in PA.

You may want to give Blouch Turbo a call. They are one of the biggest east coast Garrett dealers. I am sure they'll be able to assist your needs.

If the turbo is bb then they cannot be rebuilt, hopefully they will warranty it and swap you out with a new one.

I would deal directly with SBR since you bought it from them. How old is the turbo (timewise since you purchased it)? I haven't dealt with SBR in a long time, so I don't know if they still offer 1 year warranties on their turbos. I think many of us will be interested in how SBR handles this one. Keep us updated!!!

You should absolutely pursue a warranty through Slowboy if that's where you originally purchased it, and it is within the 1 year timeframe.

One of my close DSMies bought a SBR G50 a couple summers ago and it took a dump in about 9 months time, and less than 2k miles. They took it back under warranty and gave him a whole new turbo, no questions asked.

Wow, can it be? SBR honoring their warranties!? Well, that's a good surprise.

Turns out they cant find any name that it might of been purchased under and i can purchase a center section for $950 and a housing for like another 200.. So im going to get the bank statement and see what they say after that.

Well that was also one of the turbos that carries their name, a G50. Perhaps if it were a GT35R or a Genuine Mitsu we would've been up sh!t creek without a paddle.

Although, if it were an MHI turbo it probably wouldn't have failed! :sneaky:
