Where can I find a cheap UICP?

You guys have been in the scene longer than me, just wondering who sells the cheapest UICP. I'm rapidly running out of money to spend on this car and just discovered my stock 2G BOV leaks like a sieve at anything past 4psi. I have a 1G valve just need the pipe with the flange for it. I think I recall someone saying somewhere Dejon Tool has the least expensive one. It doesn't have to be pretty just work know what I mean ;) LOL.

Dejon's pipes are probably the ones I'd recommend. You can get them in just about any color to match your color scheme and just about any BOV flange option imaginable. With any aftermarket upper intercooler pipe (except short-route for FMIC applications) you'll need to ditch the stock 2g airbox due to clearance issues. By the time most tuners get to the intercooler pipe upgrade point, they've already gotten some type of open element filter, though. Just wanted to make sure you had that covered before you get a pipe you can't use. :)

Why not run over to a local exhaust shop? Even better if you can find one with a mandrel bender so flow won't be sacrificed w/ bends. They can also flare out the ends of the pipe just enough to put on your IC couplers so they won't blow off. They can also weld on the BOV flange. Then give it a little paint. I can almost guarantee this will be cheaper than any vendor made peice, and still work just as good.

You can also just get a 2g bov flange for a 1g bov. That way you can use the stock piping and not have to worry about the leaky bov.

Yeah, just go to a local muffler sop and get a bend made. 10 bucks fo a pipe is better than the 100 dollar ones I've seen online around. Stainless steel, do it.

The David Brode one is looking like the best bet. I'd like to have one made but where in the hell would you find a flange for starters, secondly anytime I try and get any place around here to do any kind of fabrication work they look at me like I've got a third arm growing out of my a#$.

Dave does nice work i started out with his pipe -
as far as a flange... you can get one from almost any vender.
( rre,slowboy,etc)

Yeah but the stock pipe is way restrictive, just look at it by the air filter. When i swapped my dave brode uicp in, my car's front end started lifting up and the car definitely picked up power. If i were to rewrite the tuning guide for a 2g, i'd have replacing the uicp as the first mod.

Thats pretty crazy. I didnt notice a difference except louder bov sound and a little better throttle response but that was it. Buschur racing proved that on a reletively stock dsm or modded you will gain 0 whp increase. They dynoed before and after and nothing. I would save that $65 and put it towards a FMIC if I where you.

You also came with a 1g bov, which is a huge upgrade for a 2g owner. The gains he noticed is from the elimination of the huge boost leak (and to some other extent the quarter inch ID UICP).

Man now you guys have got me questioning spending the money on the pipe. If there's no gain to be had I'll just get the adapter. My BOV leaks like a sieve at anytyhing above 4psi so I'm itching to get this done and see if it runs any better as it runs like crap right now.

Im saying just swap to a 1gbov and wait untill the FMIC for the piping. It will not do much. Just like I said above no HP increase at all, maybe barely faster spool and throttle responce. In my eyes not worth the money.

Take a look at the elbow coming up from the SMIC location on the UICP "L" pipe. It turns completely flat, literally with an ID of about .25". Not only is this an enormous restriction but it also causes a huge distortion in the path of airflow since it has to compress going into this area then travel outwards into the rest of the piping. The Dave brode pipes are incredibly cheap--I got mine for 50 dollars or so used on the classifieds, so this should not be a huge issue unless you plan on upgrading to a FMIC within a couple of months. The final choice is still up to you however.

You DO get hp from it as it frees up a good amount of air and lets it get to your engine alot faster.
