It's one of those big square fuses rated at 100A.
I called up autozone and chrysler and they didn't seem to know about it. Would they carry them? Who would?

Any help is much appreciated as I'm stuck. Thanks.

He didn't seem to know about it, but maybe when I take in a sample he'll click.
It's a chrysler specific part? Mitsu? I thought they'd be somewhat standard...

I found one at Advance Auto actually. I had to 'mod' the fuse in order to get it to fit cause it wasnt a 'female' fuse and they were unavailable.

It's actually an 80 amp male fuse. It slides in and 2 bolts hold the fuse in place (on the sides of the fuse box. Like someone said, you should be able to get them at any auto parts store.

Ok, thanks guys, I got the only one chrysler had in the state :)
Autozone said they don't have em when I called em, didn't have time to check for myself.

On a 91 turbo it's definitely a 100 amp male. The alternator is already rated at 90 amps.

PS: I wish I knew ahead of time that it was held in by bolts (10mm)... Live and learn.

PPS: the reason I was having this problem is that I sparked a wrench off the alternator's positive terminal. Whenever this happens to you, it's a good idea to check that the fusible link is still intact, or the alternator won't charge.

I Did the same thing,Couldnt figure out why it wouldnt charge. I went through 3 alternaters to find out it was a fuse.I got it from autozone for like $2.00. Ill never mess with the alternater agian withought disconnecting the battery.

Thanks, I actually figured it out over on 3si from a pre-existing thread. I didn't realize that it is actually a male fuse, which is why I couldn't get the damned thing out in one piece. So for posterity, if anyone else is confused and or wondering why they can't get it out in one piece. It is called a fusible link, even though it's kind of half fusible link half fuse...but for finding one, look for a fusible link. It has spade terminals coming out of the bottom, and the wires going to it screw into a boss sandwiching the terminals, kind of like an amp connection. So to remove in one piece, remove the bolt/screw holding the wire in place, although probably don't even have to remove it completely since it's a spade.
Hopefully this helps the next schmuck, LOL.
