Edmonton,
how often should you change your fuel filter? I was considering changing mine for the spring... and then I got the price from the dealer ($140 CAD) and changed my mind. As far as I know, its the factory filter in there... should I care?

my fuel filter from autozone was really cheap like 20 bucks or something and it had washers:thumb: the sucky part is trying to change it yourself, if your not good with cars and already know what your doing dont even bother trying to do it yourself, i fell under this catagory but i still managed to pull it off after like a week and lots of reading:thumb:

ur not supposed to mess with the fuel filter at all. unless u have a prob with it or the mileage drops to nothing, otherwise leave it alone

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. :p

I prefer to replace stuff before it breaks. That's just me.

2 yeas is a little ambiguous...but I would agree on the mileage.

It's not something that is likely to cause any real problems, and you might not notice any real difference after you change it. But if it's never changed, then I suppose it could do some damage over time.

I would change it if I were you. It's better to be safe then sorry. But try to do it yourself or get someone to do it...because that is a lot of money to spend on something that shouldn't cost more than $20 and an hour of time.

I was just reading my haynes manual. First off... it doesnt look like changing the fuel filter will be overly hard.
Print that out, and thumbtack it to the wall of your garage. It'll be a handy target for when you start throwing wrenches.

Don't even THINK about this job without a couple of flare nut wrenches to start with. A flare-nut crow's foot may be handy as well.

so, i removed my cruise control earlier in the week, I now have clear sight of my fuel filter. 2 bolts and 2 fuel lines... doesnt look so tough I think. Remove my battery and battery tray. Have a feel around the bottom line... discover its a hard metal line... come to the conclusion that my old fuel filter my not be so bad after all.

Actually, I will try again this summer when I remove my AC. I am correct in assuming that the metal line that runs up along the driver side and across the firewall is the AC line? Once I remove that, I might actually be able to fit a wrench underneath the fuel filter.
