THE TITLE SHOULD BE "TIRE SIZE CONFIRMATION."

Hey everyone,

I am looking into buying some new rims and tires and have been looking around and think I have found the right setup I am just not to confident that I did the calculation right. Anyone who can give me a little insight it would be greatlyu appreciated. I used this tire size calculator:

Tire size calculator

And got a 17" rim with a tire that was closest to stock. ( Which if I researched correctly is the best you can do.)

The rims I am looking at are 17X7 +35mm offset. The tire I came up with is a 235/45/17? Is that accurate? The only thing I did not follow from this thread is the tire width with the offset of the rim.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art...g-dsm-wheel-tire-fitment-selection-guide.html

It states for a +35mm offset the widthe needs to be around 245. If that is the case than would a 245/40/17 be a better fitment.

I think I am doiong this right, but for all I know I could be WAY over thinking this.

Any help is appreciated.

A 245/40/17 poses 2 problems: On a 7" wide rim, a 245 will most likely experience "sidewall flex" i.e 245's are too wide for 7"
An 8" rim would be more ideal.
And 2nd, using that tire size on a 35mm offset will most likely require having the fenders rolled (maybe...maybe not. But they'd be sticking out pretty good)

On a 17x7 35mm, your initial calculation was correct: you should be able to run either 235/40 AND/OR 235/45 (depending on how low, or high your car is)
If lowered with say sportlines, then a 40 profile...if its the pro-kits, then the 45.

Keep in mind that the 35mm offset rim and a 235 tire still puts the rim/tire outwards close to the fender.

225/45/17 would be the best size to use on the 35mm (for fitment)...

....but of course we'd all like to opt for the widest tire possible (wider is better!)

Hope that helps!

Thanks for all your help.

I am lowered on H&R 1.75" F 1.5" R. I found out the wheels are actually +38mm.

My biggest concern is having tire stick out from the fender and / or rub.
