Wheel offsets

I'm looking at getting some Enkei EV5s. And they come in +38 and +45 offset. With 205/40R17 tires, will this fit at stock height? 1" lower?
And what about 215/45R17s?

Which width, because I'm fairly certain that the 17X7 are +42.

Yes those will fit at stock height and 1" lower no problem. Either offset will clear fine, in my opinion I would choose the lower offset (+38) as it will 'move the rim' farther out giving you more clearance from the suspension for wider tires and a more aggressive stance with the rims/tires sitting flush to the fender.

There is no reason to choose such small tires as 205/40 or 215/45. At a minimum you should run 215/50 as this is what comes stock; it's ideal that you to try to keep the diamater as close as possible to original. If anything, choose a wider tire with a lower aspect ratio sidewall, for example 235/45.
